I will be ordering my lift in the next month or so and need your experiences and input on my options. I do some mild off roading and wheeling but my 97 4runner is my dd as well.
1. OME 881 890 and diff drop
2. Toytec Ultimate with Procomp rear shocks
3. Toytec Boss with 600 front springs and Procomp rear shocks
Any feed back you can guve me on they lift kits would be great, which is best, hows the ride in washboard and rocky terrain ect. Thanks in advance.
Some other info on my rig: 265 /75R16 tires, TG sliders, stock other than that. Planning to add at least a metal front bumper and winch but that will be a while down the road and maybe a metal rear bumper but not sure.

I have the Toytec Boss for my 02 4runner 4wd with the 600lbs up front and the Boss shocks with OME 890 in the rear, light racing UCA, & diff drop (aftermarket UCA not necessary but thought I'd try it out in case I had any tire clearance issues & got the diff drop just to try and limit the stress on my cv's the best I could). I have factory front and rear bumpers and carry ~150lbs of weight in tools/hydraulic jack. As my daily driver it rides really well and I'm happy with the set up. I have 285/75/r16 BFG AT which rubbed the front rear wheel well on the driver's side before I had it aligned but once I had it aligned I haven't had any rubbing issues.

I don't think you could go wrong with either the ultimate or boss & from my experience, I honestly couldn't tell a difference between the two with the 600lb coil. The only reason I went with the boss is that I thought I'd try out something new. I don't have any experience with the procomps but haven't heard great things about them. For the rear shocks, I'd go with the boss or bilstein 5100s if you could make it work financially. But I think you'd be happy with any of the choices you listed. I'm finding out very quickly that modifying a 3rd gen, even as a daily driver, becomes a pretty big/fun addiction with a never ending list of things you never realized you'd thought you'd want to do...good times tho.

One of several other companies I would recommend, as far as getting a lift kit, is sonoran steels 1.2 or 7.2. Both kits come with accessories that would be beneficial to have but again probably not necessary. If you haven't already, you should check out his website, there is a lot of good info especially if you go to the FAQ section.

Just realized Aznwolf118 already mentioned sonoran steel before I got done typing my post...he's right though, definitely worth looking into

I would got with the 881 and the 890 with is what I am running I like the set up I am running the fatbobs front stock and LC shocks in the rear with SS adjustable Pandhard bar this is my DD.

I have seen your build psraff, nice rig you have.
SS has not really peaked my interest i have looked at their lifts for the 3rd gen. Seems like a few of their kits are just the Tundra TRD/LC coils and Bilstien shocks with some extras and are just not they tyoe of setup i want for my needs. They also seem over priced, since you can build the same lift yourself for much cheaper.
Sadly the Boss rear shocks are currently on back order but i think i can afford the Bilstiens, or they may come off back order when i make my purchase. I really and leaning to either the Boss or the Ultimate kits.
More thoughts here please

I am running Monroe Gas Magnums for the Land Cruiser in the rear of my running and they ride better then anything I have used I had Billie in the back broke one replaced that with some from fatbobs broke a few then just replaced it with the LC right off the shelf at pep boy... Best thing I have ever did and they right great... I still have the 881 and front shock from bobs up front and the conbo rides great.

if you want you can test drive my truck, ive got the tundra lc lift. i think the bilsteins would provide a better ride than the tokicos for the back.

as far as the tundra coils ive ran the tundras on all three perches, the bottom is amazing for comfort, but my front end swings down hard if im traversing uneven terrain quickly, i think with a plate bumper the second perch is ideal, but for just a dd the bottom is great.

id say definitely dont go with tokicos in the back for a dd, unless your always hauling stuff.

the lc coils are a lot of rake for most people that dont run rear armor and tire carrier, and the tokicos are stiff without weight. the tundra coils are nice but ive heard the eibachs are better and cheaper.

ultimately id probably recommend superflex and bilstein 5100s for the back, and the toytec eibach 620lb with the tundra bilstein 5100 for the front.

I went back and forth between these two kits for a while too. When I called toytec, they told me the Boss was supposed to have a slightly better ride on and off road and were more corrosion resistant. I've had experience with both, on road, and I really couldn't tell the difference.

If you're ready to buy and the Boss isn't available, go with the ultimate...let availability decide decide for you and you'll also save a little $.

About a $1200 max budget on suspension lift is what i can get away with.
Thank for the input on the Tundra coil setup but i have done my research and eliminated that option for several reasons (none of which have anything to do with quality or ride)

What do you mean just trd/lc coils. He is the one that pretty much figured that setup out. You do realize toytecs lifts are just OME, which are just ARB, also there coils are just Eibach. So I dont get what you mean by that.

The reason the cost more is because he covers all aspects. With the toytec you get coils, springs, and sometimes panhard bar which they just released. Not to mention they dont lower bump stops, they dont add rear sway bar brackets, brake line, diff drop, emergency brake line bracket, zerg fitting, lots of little stuff he thought of others did not.

Yeah i have seen everything the SS kits come with and im not saying they are not nice well thought out kits. I just think they are over kill for what i use my 3rd gen for. I dont rock crawl or do serious hardcore wheeling, i dont need extra long travel or crazy flex. Just 3 inch lift in the rear and about 2.5 to 2.75 in the front for more ground clearamce while offroading and a smoother ride on rough trails, less up and down in the front end. I will be doing the diff drop and panhard bar drop for sure and if needed extended rear brake line. I am a mechanic and can get parts at a fairly low price so i could build my own tundra lc lift for pretty cheap.

I have the SS 1.2 with the Radflows, its great, only downside is the back end jumps around a bit now. I don't think it will do that once I add the rear bumper to it. If you don't have the weight in the rear, and you aren't going to actually wheel your truck. Toytec will be ok for what you want, or just give Steve a call and tell him what you are looking for. He's probably one of the most straight up, and helpful people you can find. If he can't help you on your budget, then I am fairly sure he will point you in a direction that will.

LOL As you can see everyone will have their own opinions. I went through the same things you are (as I'm sure almost everyone does). SS was my first choice, until I saw the cost. At the time I just couldn't afford it, and I was told that is an extreme setup for major off roading. That's not what I wanted to build my rig into. My first setup (with stock weight) was pretty stiff. When I added the rear bumper it couldn't handle the extra weight. Now after my upgrade the rear is really nice. It's a bit bouncy a few times, and once in a while it feels like it shifts left to right but I think that's the increase in height. Overall I like it and it's held up very well. I suspect when I put on my front bumper and winch I may have the same sag problem as I did with the rear. We'll see.
