Which Timing belt (with water pump) kit?

I have a v8 and everyone said the one from RockAuto made by Gates is the OEM one...that's what they recommended and that's what I bought.
 
I bought the Aisin kit from rock auto. TKT021. Not sure if its oem on my runner, but Aisin is OEM on my Acura TL. But either way, Aisin and Gates are well known brands.

Rock auto says the gates kit is "OE quality", not that its OEM. The Gates kit for my Acura on Rock auto says the same thing, but the water pump I took out off my TL has Aisin forged on it. Did the Toyota water pump you took off say a manufacturer on it?
 
Is your water pump leaking? I understand most people replace it when doing the timing belt but replacing perfectly good parts doesn't make sense to me. I'm almost at 190K and my original is still leak free.

Just something to think about.
 
Normally I would agree with you, but in this case there is so much work involved in order to just get to the water pump. In my opinion, it would be well worth the cost of a new water pump while you have the area exposed. Take care.

I'd guess the majority of us would go your route but I guess I'm both cheap and a risk taker. I'll replace mine on the next t-belt change whether it needs it or not.
