Which Tire?

Josh,
I know you're into winter sports. As part of your snow boarding adventures do you have to go by chain inspection stations? Would they want you to chain-up with the TG's but not the snowflake embossed BFG's?
If that was an issue that might influence my choice (a lot!) Both the TG's and the BFG's seem like great tires, it's hard to go wrong.
What about the 275/70 GY SA's? Snowflake, spare will fit and good reviews, correct look...

However, if it is too bad, they will sometimes ask if you are carrying chains with you just in case, but they will not make you put them on.
Are you positive that the 275/70/17's fit in the spare location? I'm just wondering if they won't look as.....beefy.....
Those MT's look nice though. I am just skeptical about the spare fitting. And I bet they are noisy as hell.

As I understand 285's you must cut more than the black plastic fender liner. (I might be wrong on that.) The tiny bit less beefy 275's will look tough as hell and you have zero spare tire issues.

When tires get too big all I can think about is poor stopping, blown diffs etc. I know the T4R is pretty durable and it isn't TrailRated so it doesn't have many of those issues. I'm sure 285's are fine but 275 look a little more correct proportionally to me.
You've got an awesome rig and it'll be great whatever you choose.
Do you have a Kurtfab Diff Bracket on the way? Big tires = big stress on that thing. That bracket is the one thing on the T4R that scares me.

Nope, never even considered it before. But maybe I should just stick with 275's. I just wish Nitto or BFG made a 275 size tire. I am still wondering if the MT's will be too noisy......

Check these out... http://www.procomptires.com/allterrain.html 33x12.5x17 look cool. Overall diameter is listed at 32.3 which is within the magic range for the spare.

You're correct, Spaceman at that time did NOT have a hitch, I don't know if he's added on yet. ProMed DOES have a hitch... His T4R pics of the month show his rig towing his dirt bike.
I don't think the hitch affects it. I think the swaybar is the first limiting issue.

What will you be doing with these tires? I've had both and I wasn't impressed with the Nitto's. They were ok in all areas. But in snow, they felt really unstable. Driving up the canyon, felt like I hardly had any traction.
BFG's are great off-road and in the snow. On-road, they're just ok. The wet traction suffers, too. If you're 50/50 on and off road, I'd go with this tire.
I really liked my Bridgestone REVO's on road. They were planted in the wet (the best wet traction I've experienced), did great in snow and were the quiestest of the three. You should check them out.
BFG's are great off-road and in the snow. On-road, they're just ok. The wet traction suffers, too. If you're 50/50 on and off road, I'd go with this tire.
