Which Tires?

I bought my 97 4Runner a little over a month ago.

The tires are in good shape, but on the rear there are two Geo-Trac radial XLT, and on the front there are two Dunlop AT21 Grandtrek.

Does it matter that they are different makes? Is there any reason this would have been intentional?

When I replace the tires what would be a good replacement? I do all city and highway driving in New York City.

someone probably could only afford to buy two tires at a time, and so thats the reason for the difference. not a big deal. it all depends on how much you want to spend and what size you want. im sure a lot of guys on here would tell you to go with duratracs of BFG ATs ect... but sense you dont off road it i wouldnt wast my time or money with them. Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels id go there and put in your info about either tire size or 4runner and see what they offer, read through all of the reviews about each tire you like. for a hwy road tire i would recommend Michelin LTX M/S2 they are some of the best hwy tires for a suv out there and Michelin makes great tires.
