Which UCA did you go with and why?

Trying to decide which UCA to go with for the average weekender.

I have been reading thread upon thread on which people prefer and why but a lot of the information is a 2-3 years old by now.

Now that more users should probably have had some mileage on whichever UCA you went with, i would like to hear what your thoughts are!

Most people here will vote for uniball

I wanted something with no to low maintenance that will get the job done. I lucked out on used cheap ball joint camburg. They are solid UCA's with slightly less articulation from uniball's.

Alignment wasn't an issue because I was recommended to go to a shop that does it manually, no machines.

Done and Done and no problems so far on road, no off road experience yet.
 
I went with Light Racing because they were 30% off, so I got them for under $400. In all honesty I hadn't seen the reports of them cracking until after I bought them, but have also read that their customer service has been good about warrantying them recently. Their main advantage besides affordability (which from my experience isn't always good word when it comes to modding) is the additional caster adjustment they offer.
 
Total Chaos because of reliability and low maintenance. I didn't want to be out on the trail and have one fail out of nowhere, or worse, on the road.... (I know, I know, anything can break)

Buy once cry once. (Though i will have to get new uniballs every few years or so I've heard)
 
having bought the Moog camburg's, i can say that i really really like them and they fit my needs just fine, however - if i had it to do all over again now that they've raised the prices of the ball joint versions, i would get the Camburg Uniballs. they're the best ones on the market.
 
This may not help, but you didn't say how much lift you have. I have 2.5" and am still on the stock UCAs with no problems. Aligns within spec and drives fine.

I've been trying to decide the same question.

I've read alot on both, and from everything I've read, the uniballs are not for me! Quite honestly, I wish they were, but I'm not ready to introduce squeaks to a new vehicle without the slightest squeak or rattle.

I know there are covers for the top, but I just don't understand why these uniballs could not be given a bottom boot also? I don't mind some maintenance, but I don't want to be after it all the time ... particularly once the snow starts to fly!
 
Debating which UCAs to go with as well. Currently between the ICON tubular
vs TC UCA. Wanting the best value with sacrificing quality.

From what i've read;
Uniball:
TC improve SS > ICON
Uniball design:
ICON > TC
Tubing:
TC 4130 > ICON DOM
Pricing:
ICON ($50 cheaper)> TC
Customer Service:
TC > ICON
 
Those of you running the Camburg Moog UCAs, what are your alignment numbers like? I'm on the fence about getting them, and it seems like the taco guys are having issues getting more than 1-2 degrees of caster with a 3" lift.
 
Camburg mit der Moog ...price and quality. That said, I debated between TC and C'burg for weeks. Prolly can't go wrong with either. There's some scary posts out there about LR.

My caster is 3.7, I know there are comments from people who bought them that couldn't get that high. It was a great decision for me, I just couldn't put my money in the LR given bushing and rusting issues.

Mostly jeeps and pickups. I think my 4Runner was a rarity for them - they kept posting photos on Instagram with the caption "the 4Runner is back".
In any case, they did an excellent install - no complaints.

Thanks for taking the time to help contribute.

Trying to figure out if UCAs are "needed" or worth buying for a icon stage 1 or stage 2 lift.

My initial thought was get a UCA because I could step up to stage 2 icon and take advantage of having proper alignment along with ~1" of extra travel from the front.

Then as I keep looking through options I'm starting to wonder if 500-600$ extra for UCA to be able to run the ext travel coilovers is worth the return.

I'm torn between running a stage 1 setup and stock UCAs or manning up and running stage 2 with ext. travel and aftermarket UCAs.

Keep in mind I'm just an average weekender off-roader. This will be my daily with a family in mind for the near future.

Why would you say camburgs are best right now?

I do agree my top picks right now are camburg and total chaos.
Camburg seems to have the 1.25" uniball which might be overkill. But I can't find if the uniball itself is stainless. They don't mention it anywhere.

Whereas the total chaos has a standard 1" uniball but the uniball itself is stainless steel along with the sleeves being stainless.

We don't have snow in Hawaii but we do have a lot of salt in the air from the ocean. So stainless is an added bonus.
