Whine in front and leak around axle

I hear a bit of a whine while moving, especially slowing down. I noticed a little grease come out of the seal on the small end of the axle, like it was runny. However, I had taken suspension off and dislocated the joint, so maybe squeezed out in that process.

There is a little play in the axle in and out on both sides...normal?

Do those things need taken apart and re-greased occasionally?

Limited, 4wd, 130k miles

Ever replaced your wheel bearings? I noticed grease being slung on my rear axle along with a slight whine and replaced the axle seal and bearing which solved it.

have not replaced, possible. my guess..I took axle loose to do suspension and something not right or grease came out. looks like have to replace whole unit.

I have a loud whine in the front left side from about 15 to 40mph. If I turn left at 30 to 40 it quiets down. I'm going for the wheel bearing as that is a common thing to see when turning as it drops the weight off the bad bearing.

I guessed the same thing when my wheel bearing was growling and had to replace the other side which was actually the bad one.
Turns out my noise went away under loading, (turning opposite the bad side).
