I have a 97 4wd 4runner it started making a whinning noise only when in gear accelerating I know its most likely power steering or tranny. It steers fine and power steering fluid was good. I assumed it was the tranny but thought I'd have it checked before selling. The mechanic said the transmissions fine no leaks runs great and just change the spark plugs and fuel filter. However i topped off tranny oil in may because it was low then this weekend when getting the oil changed they put a quart of lucas tranny fix and yesterday already he said it was low and put the another quart in. The car runs great it seems to shift fine. After the mechanic looked at it yesterday the whinning noise as turned into a screaming though a lot quiter but really high pitched. I can tell the car shouldn't be making this nose despite the mechanic saying it's okay but im hoping for better news then its something to do with the transmission any ideas?
