So it was a bit of coolant that leaked out. With summer starting here in Houston I want to make sure my my A/C is in order. I noticed it's not blowing as cold as is used to. Thought that might be the freeon plug.

If you ac is not blowing as cold as it should you can take it in for a charge at a shop or go to walmart/parts store and grab a charging kit with gauge for pretty cheap and it will give you directions in how to charge it. Its pretty simple and anyone can do it. A shop will charge more then it cost to do it yourself like most things. And I'm sure there is multiple good DIY's on youtube you can use.

Check the drain tube to see it's not clogged, verify the cabin air filter isn't dirty/clogged up, and use LO and Recirculation for best results. If it's very humid in your area, that will affect it as well.
If you are unfamiliar with how AC systems work, and it sounds like that's the case for the OP, do NOT try to open or service the system yourself. The refrigerant is under fairly high pressure and can do serious injury if it contacts your skin or eyes when suddenly released. This truly is a case for "trained professionals". Have a qualified shop check out your AC. It's not that expensive to have it checked and recharged.
