The dogs pushed the key under the oven, got lodge in and melted the top. At least it's just a surface melt. Going just put the internals in a new shell and we should be alright.

There's a magnetic(?) chip in there that you need to get out as well. Without that the truck will crank but won't start. It just looks like a little gray rectangular thingy.

Nice, what's up with dogs chasing things under furniture? My pup has a tendency to get tennis balls stuck under my bookcase. He was freaking out one night and I look under there and low and behold all 6 balls I got him where under there haha. Anyways, hope you get the new key to work.

For second there I thought the two wrestling pups put the dropped key in the oven with the pizza..:wtf:

I was loading up one day, and opened the back hatch, needed both hands so i put my keys down on the back bumper area. finished loading, closed the hatch. one too leave and couldn't find my keys, found them right where the latch on the back door is, key was bent in half. :( luckily i was able to straighten it with my pliers and it worked okay, got home and I'm using my spare now cause with my luck that other key would break off in the ignition... one day ill go get a new one. Anyone know roughly what they cost?

Originally I called the dealer and they said 300-350 for the key and programming. I just swapped the key blade, externals, and chip into a shell from eBay; saved a bunch of money instead.
