Who has gone off-roading with their STOCK tires?

I've went off roading with them, in a few feet of snow and a couple inches of mud up some hills and throughout. Put a few hundred miles on them offroad and kept up with my buddies driving on A/Ts.
They aren't bad tires, and they will get you through a lot of things depending on how you drive. The only issue is when you get stuck you generally lose all traction pretty fast. I've even ran them at 20psi on most of my trips, and went through a few snow berms and had to recover my buddy with k02's who was following me. ymmv though. A/Ts are definitely better.

IMHO, offroading unless its smooth dirt or packed sand, you are really taking a chance.
I had a piece limestone puncture right through the treads, (not sidewall) within the first 6 months on my T4R. and that was leaving the highway and driving into a parking lot.
So, I personally, wouldn't take the chance of offroading w/ them!

I recently bought a lightly used 2018 SR5, which has like new Dunlop Grandtrek tires. I went on some moderate trails atop a nearby mountain. Did clip a hidden rock with the passenger front on a tight right turn at about 15 mph, hitting hard enough to nearly yank the steering wheel out of my hand. The stone put a superficial tear of about 2” in the sidewall near the shoulder of the tire. Yesterday I had that tire swapped out with the never used spare, now using the damaged tire for a spare. I have been driving the damaged tire without issue, but it is in the back of my mind the potential for a blowout at speed, so caution prevailed. Otherwise, the tread seemed to take the off road trip fine.

In 1996 I bought a new Chevrolet S-10 4WD pickup. Came with Goodyear Wrangler RTS tires. I quickly found RTS stood for Really Thin Spare. 10 flats in 10,000 miles, all but one simply stone punctures caused by gravel stuck in the tread. The other a sidewall ripped open by a very small rock. After researching options I chose BF Goodrich All Terrain T/As. I ran two sets of those tires and still had good tread on the second set when I traded it in on a new 2002 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road in ‘02.
The Tacoma was shod with BF Goodrich Rugged Trail T/A tires, P rated. I was skeptical, but I put 32,000 miles on that set of tires and I showed them no mercy. They were sliced and diced yet never had a flat. After that I spooned on two sets of BF Goodrich All Terrain T/As. In 2016, due to the high cost of the All Terrains and the fact I just wasn’t very active any longer in moderate to heavy off roading, I went with Cooper LT rated Discovery AT3 tires. I recently gave the truck to my son and grandson, replacing it with my new to me 4Runner.

I was pretty impressed with my stock Dunlop tires. I had a couple moments where I was pretty concerned about them over some sharp rocks, but I tried to pick good lines through and I never punctured one thankfully. Although, now with my KO2's, I have much more peace of mind.

I was on Michelin Defenders, which is primarily a road tire, for every off-road trip featured on my YT channel.

Thai, I just finished my second summer with Dueler H/T tires on my 4th Gen.
I was apprehensive when I got them as take-offs from my friend's new TRD Off-Road 4R, but they earned their trail cred with me.
I drive 10-12 trails per summer in CO. Nothing crazy, roads like Hagerman Pass, Mosquito Pass, June Creek, Argentine Pass, Old Tennessee road, and so on. I'm not into rock crawling, just scenic discovery drives.
None of the trails left me wishing I had more tire. I keep them around 32-34 pounds, never once aired down, and to say that I'm impressed is an understatement. For a tire that looks like a highway Michelin and that's available dirt cheap on craigslist, they do an incredible job on the roads I took them to. My first drive on the Duelers was a snowy road with a drift obstacle that stopped a Land Cruiser and a Taco. The 4R drove right over the drift when I was sure that I'd have to have those guys tow me out.
I now have about 20 thousand miles on them and they still look brand new with no noticeable tread wear and literally zero chunking.

I have been offroading a bunch on my stock Nitto Terra Grapplers and they seem fine.
I have had to use A-TRAC and my read locker, and even had to put a rock under a tire to help out when even that wouldn't get me up and over a slippery log, but I was not aired down and who knows if different tires would have made a difference.
What I am more worried about is snow and ice. Terra Grapplers are M+S rated, but not 3PSF rated. So, they're not a true winter tire, although I haven't had a problem with driving them in winter conditions . . . yet.

I have a stock 4th gen SR5 4x4 that I've been hitting the trails with. It came with brand new cheap AT tires, which have been servicing me fine for the trails that I've been going on.
