I just recently broke 20,000 miles on my '04. It's not my only vehicle though.... and I live about 4 miles from my job. All things considered, that's a lot of miles on my 4Runner!!

I have 50K on my 06 V6 I bought in June of "06" and it runs better and better the more miles I put on.
Some of you need to find a good side mechanic to do the simple things like change the diff fluids and spark plugs I have saved big $$$ with someone I trust. I do my own oil changes except when it's real cold (anything "0 or below") and that saves as well.

My friend that is a toyota Master mechanic said they charge like 130-150 an hr for labor, alot of those little checkups at 5k, 15k, 30k-100 is a bunch of crap. Alot of those things are simply for their benefit " Money". He sait not untill 100k would he change spark plugs, coolent, air filters, diffs ,check trans. Some of those 30k mile checkups they want to rotate @ balance tires, and other things just to charge you their labor rate. NEVER,NEVER,NEVER trust what the service writer says. the more he says you need, the more money he makes. I found a guy we advertise for thats a Master Mechanic w/ LEXUS @ TOYOTA. we know and trust him and has his own bus. Need to find someone local that u trust.plenty of shops around that specialize in toyotas. GOOD LUCK

Next time you go in for a minor checkup, ask them for the list of things they do. The only useful things are to rotate the tires and change the oil. Other than that, they check the fluids (any idiot can do that), check your wiper blades(are you freaking kidding me?), and dozens of other things that are just as useless.

I'm at 84,000+. I bought it with 47K 14 months ago! 37K miles...is what I get for a 42 mile commute each way!
I've had no major problems. I've done oil/filter, lube driveshafts at 5000mi. I just did air filter, cabin filter (pretty gross), changed diff and transfer case fluids, spark plugs once (badly worn electrodes; I don't know how it ran so good with them), front brake pads at ~60K (still decent material left). The one thing I noticed is that both my calipers had sticky pistons (lower inboard), as others here have stated. This caused minor uneven pad wear. I think the rotors are ready for a change since they feel a little warped.
Trying to research the timing belt replacement at 90K...it's coming fast! If anyone knows of a write up for this please let me know. I do almost all the work on my vehicles and will probably just wing it if I don't find a writeup. I might buy the service manual too.

I think I get second place, aside from retco. I have 104,200 as of today. Bought it with 93K. So far, I have changed the oil, replaced the wipers (all) replaced the transmitter battery for the remote, replaced cabin air filter, and replaced the stupid a/c relay. All of that was about $100. I have had to get my mechanic to do brakes $450, tires $500, and timing belt, serpentine belt, water pump $546. So about $1500, but thats what I get for buying such a high millage truck. Now the back is making a knock sound. Maybe the sway bar brushings? will let you guys know how much that fix cost...
The only other thing was the stinking sunroof...At 96K it decided to crap out! the common problems on the very first 4th gens. I had a stuck sunroof, and had to take it to a place that installs sunroofs. They had to take the headliner out, take it out of it tracks and get it back into place. Cost me $150 just to get the glass back into place. The dealer wanted like $1500, but the place I took it to said they could get another one for about $500 and have it installed. Needless to say, it still isn't working because I am broke! Such a shame too! The weather is so nice down here!

Just approaching 77,000 miles here, and still tight except for the rattling sunroof and loose driver seat gripes. I think the sunroof only rattles when it's cold out and all the parts shrink.
Looks like we have the same vehicles Recto, except that mine is still pretty much stock but for aftermarket leather, Sirius, and the bug shield I just took off because the rubber mounting grommets dried out and broke.
Speaking of the bug shield, has anyone found some hardware that will work in place of the $50 kit to remount the thing? I mean, that's half the price of the damn thing in the first place! Thinking I might paint it before reinstalling, what do you think?
By the way, what lift do you have on that, a 2-1??
