Who wants a plate bumper?

See thats just it. Youre looking at 100 bucks for material, and thats pushing it! Youre saying it cant be done for way under 900? wheres that other 800 going? in someones pocket (minus an hour of welding and shipping)

I mean for you it makes sense, but there is no way that you can do it for for that and sell them. The base cost is 731 for the 4x bumper and ~200 for shipping puts ya at the 900 to you. I don't know where you get your steel from, but at low volume even with a cheap cutting process like plasma cnc you will never get a price as low as 100. I am not saying to not save yourself some coin and build a neat one-off for yourself. I wouldn't say you can do something that isn't possible in the way of providing a quality bumper at a lower price point than the ones already available though. Also it's quite a bit more than an hour of welding even with jigs...

By the way for anyone interested in a front rear combo I just found out that if you add both to the cart at 4XInnovations it takes $170 discount automatically. $1272 isnt too bad for a combo.

There are steel companies that will sell at "bulk" pricing if you order a bundle and live close enough to industrial drop zones. There are machine shops with CNC/laser work for CHEAP. Large discounts on parts come after sets of 8. We use to outsource work to some of them, because it was cheaper for them to make it, palatalize it, ship it then we could do it running 400 IPM on our own CNC. Those places also sell you their own materials at cost if you do good business or for marginal profits.

There are large machine shops run and founded by foreigners who invested 10 million to buy top of the line equipment, they pay employee's shit, and undersell and take over massive consumer accounts for stuff all over the US. So lots of shops are eager to do work like this. It keeps the lights on, machines going.

It doesn't take much other then a good jig, some CAD files, a cnc nest, and a proficient welder to make these. A plate bumper is obviously heavier/more time intensive with smoothing welds and edges, but they are still overpriced @ $800 IMO. We can agree to disagree, but I worked for 7 years at the largest push bumper manufacturer in the US probably. I know what it takes to get this done, cause I've done it from R&D to pallets boxed on the truck.

Pimping the same business out that's been pissing customers off with huge time delays is kinda redundant in this thread also isn't it? If that company was producing these bumpers, at least within a reasonable time frame, people wouldn't be outsourcing and looking elsewhere to begin with. I know lots of people, myself included, HAD $ for the bumpers, but chose to get stuff done in 2 weeks, not 6 months by someone else.

AND....the bumper will only take about half a sheet, so...you do the math and tell me where the rest of that money is going?

Let me tell you something...they wouldn't be in business if they were losing money!!!!

This will be my cost if I go to my steel supplier and pick up. It'll be cheaper once I get it from my former employer (because i'll be getting it cut there as well).

BTW, I never said I was getting the material and cut for 100. Its 68 for 14ga and 100 for 11ga per 4x8 sheet. I'll cut it myself until I can get it laser cut later

no need to get butt hurt. You have raised some good points, but the only thing about what you've said that strikes a chord with me is that you say I CAN do it FOR MYSELF cheaper than buying, but to make for others...I CANT due to costs. The more i make, the cheaper it will be to make.

Sounds like the OP worked in a similar environment with availability to a CNC. The local yard is paying $20 for a TON of scrap steel. Seems like prices are down lower then ever right now.

Everything costs something,your time included. If you want to work for peanuts that's fine, but when you start to do it for others those huge "profits" that these businesses make will start to look pretty measly. I found out the hard way.

There is no one on here making custom front and rear bumpers at a super discount price like you are stating. Its almost to good to be true.

I guess a persons ideas and word isn't what it used to be any more. I'll dig some pics up if I can find any.

BTW, I'm not trying to get rich, or even start a business doing this...I just dont see paying 2000-2500 for a front and rear bumper that I can do in my garage...and help a few others out if they want one as well.

I only posted that because literally DOZENS have come before you making these same claims, or something similar.

Eventually they stop responding to the thread, it dies, and they're never heard from again.
