I'm gonna say that I based my mods mostly on Blcktpgsr's early version of this 4Runner. I liked how it had rake, wide aluminum offset rims, 33's, and kept all the chrome tied in.

Here's mine for comparison:

He took it a bit further with the Scooped hood and limited flares (something I'd like to do someday).


However, as we all know, Blcktpgsr went on to drastically change the look of his 4Runner! It looks nothing like what I have now, but I sincerely love the changes he's made to his blacked out 4Runner!

bighead, his was the first runner i saw, but i would not say i tryed to copy him or do the same thing... ive just kinda gone about things my own way, and built a rig that suites my needs, ive also liked glen and rics runners, as well as ripcords. im sure there are others along the way who have given me inspiration but i would say those 4 have been the major ones

Chaplain. He lived in Socal, saw his 4Runner driving around my neck of the woods. Really loved the Tundra wheels. First time I met him was at a local car show (2008-09ish), he showed me around his truck and that's where I got a lot of my inspiration:

driffter33/brian2sun. Also Socal members, they believed in me and my build, regardless of 4WD. They took me on my first real trail run, boy, was it a blast. Driffter helped get a lot of work done to my truck (sliders, supercharger install) and provided lots of advice for lifting.

Both Brian2sun and Chaplain inspired the CBI rear bumper. Countless inspirations for other mods throughout... Toyota inspired a lot with the 99 Highlander design and OEM options/TRD items.

Builds like Dirtco's 99 (in fact, all the CO dudes really, steezemcqueen, sn0wrunner, duhockey, etc) provide tons of inspiration. Nothing like that full floater rear axle setup with IFS front hubs/brakes off a 1st gen, or that overwhelming fab ability... Sure wish I knew how to weld. Tubbed fenders, rear shock mounts, limit straps... oh, the possibilities... all topped off with excellent attention to detail and cleanliness.

I had a picture of his runner on the lock screen of my iphone for I don't know how long. Of course we have similar colors which helps aswell. I loved the look of it and overall stance.

Everything he does is done extremely clean. Both the 01 and the 97 are beautiful rigs. Past the actual builds I've used many of his writeups so extra points there.

All three of us have CBI rears so I feel like we are connected, but I'm still not in the sport hood club

Nobody inspired mine, although Silver is a common ass color so it looks like very one else's 4runner.:moping:

I don't recall who inspired me to get wheel spacers.

I am the only one in the forum who is using Downey Offroad coilovers.

Who was first to put in manual hubs. I don't know where I got that idea from...

Someone inspired me to put a rear window switch in the rear hatch to open the window from the inside but I can't remember who that was.

Snorkel - Dante's Peak was my inspiration for that one. So Gay

Eclipse full screen Navigation system - Great buy on forum inspired me .

Seat repair - Just maintenance.

Elocker - Hoaiphong Truong from the soraan steel website inspired me to do this mod.

Getting kicked off Yotatech - That was me.:bash:

PA System - Sold my Rice rocket , had it lying around so it was only logical to have it installed in to the 4runner.


Oh yeah. I forgot - 4.7 I-force motor retrofit. This was all me.:trophy:

I would have to say many of you have inspired me to build my 4runner. Some on this list are. sn0wrunner, 4-Ripcord, rickashay, proudrunner, and for the most inspiration I will have to go with 4runit.

I gotta give this one to [MENTION=67615]Dirtco[/MENTION] and his build...I built my bumper similar to his after seeing it, and have always liked his purpose built style. I've always been keen on organization and clean mods so the truck can do what you want it to.
