Who's owned their 3rd Gen the longest?

2020-1996=24 years

Still the first owner of 5 speed manual 4Runner, bought brand-new and paid over the MSRP from San Luis Obispo, California.

Original clutch was replaced when it hits 200,000 miles, and that is after being a daily driver and parked in the hilly part of San Francisco. Unfortunately, the passenger side window had been smashed numerous times from street burglaries already.

24 years later, it's almost 250,000 and running strong. It's still being driven daily during weekdays.

I bought my '97 SR5, V6, 5-speed, E-locker, factory oak leather, moonroof, premium sound, larger wheels, brakes, and tires 4Runner on 9/22/97.

22 years, 1 month, and 1 day later, I sold it and bought a new 5th gen TRD ORP.

The '97 was a great vehicle. Looking forward to the same from the 5th gen.

I'm not even a contender in this game. I bought my '99 in 2008, with 106k on it. 12 years later now, it just turned over 200k.

I won't win this award, but I've had mine since 2008 from a single owner who put 130k on it. Now, 12 years later, at around 220k.

2008 crew!! lol


Got my 99 in March of 08 with 142k.



Today she's got 250k and a whole lot of stories to tell.


Used to be my daily, but the last 4 years, she's covered no more than 10k.

Well I don’t know if this counts but I currently own 3 third generation 4runner’s,one work truck,one play truck and one that I just couldn’t pass up the condition and price on approximate time with all 16 years[emoji849]

just at 10 years,bought mine in december of 2009 with 100k on it. Now has 206k on it now,the 3rz may be a little unpowered but makes up for it with its durability.

Purchased new Limited 4x4 in 1998 and used mostly as trip vehicle and to tow my boat. Currently has 107,000 miles and relegated to towing the boat and hauling. Everyone that sees it wants to buy it but I'm not selling.

Bought it new off the lot summer of '96.. It's been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned, unfortunately with 200k on it things are starting to wear out. Including apparently my ECU day before yesterday.. First time it has left me on the side of the road.

Purchased my new-to-me 3rd gen two weeks ago. Has 182k on the clock. Hopeful to get another 100k out of it!!!
