No, he doesn't apply to many hardworking Americans. He relates to 1% of the population if he actually was going to make $250k. We've of course since found out that was a lie.

I still don't think you get it. IF you make more than $250k a year, your taxes will rise 3% (the same as under Clinton). That means if you make $500k you'll pay an additonal $8,000+ in taxes. If you make $251,000 a year, you'll pay an extra $30 bucks. Hopefully that makes sense?

Obama was only involved with acorn many years ago for a good cause. acorn and obama both wanted voters to register while at the dmv. Obama doesn't actually support acorn besides in this one instance that the republicans have brought up. If that is considered a connection at all then how about this. In 2006, John McCain was a keynote speaker for acorn, video included. Also, please research Obama's questionable associates a little further, seriously no offense just do a little research (fox news doesn't count) and then judge. I think you might change your mind, some of these connections the democrats and republicans are ridiculous.

Also LOL on Thai's cricket picture. That made me smile when i scrolled down.

Also a bit of a downer today. Came into a breakfast place and overheard a conversation between older women. They say it would be scary to vote for someone named "Barack Obama" and that a "terrorist shouldn't be running the country". I can understand voting for McCain based on policy issues, but what the hell. People are honestly voting on reasons as small as Barack's race and name as well as stupid stuff like Palin spending money on clothes. Neither of those things should matter...

One last thing i have to ask. What do you guys think about each of the candidates pasts regarding education? Didn't Obama get to Harvard and Columbia on his own (absolutely no sarcasm, but it's my understanding that Obama didn't have 'connections' to the top college)? Regarding McCain, the naval academy is a great school but he graduated at the bottom of his class (894 of 899). It impresses on me that he didn't have any desire to learn from his mistakes of the first year and may translate the way he handles things in the future. I look forward to your response as it's not often i get to talk to smart republicans ;): . Those two old ladies make me sick, seriously.

The reason the clothes became such a big issue is because Republican donors are upset that the money wasn't spent more wisely, especially when they're so far behind in the polls. Didn't she have clothes from being Governor? You can't make the case you're a small-town American, or that you relate to small-town average Americans if you need to spend 150k on clothes. The reporters looked at Obama and Biden's expenses and they haven't spent anything on clothes.
 
Obama and Biden as well as McCain can wear the same everyday if they wanted to. Nobody would know the difference. A suit is a suit.

Palin can't wear the samething. She must wear a different outfit each day. How long has she been campaigning now? over 45 days probably. So that is 45 outfits she has to have.
 
Still,it's $150k worth for her and her family. My mom is a business professional/defense contractor and probably has a 100 outfits and she's spent nowhere near $150k in her whole career of 30 years on clothes.

It looks silly no matter what spin you put on it.

RonM, you can read that Obama has A LOT more negative TV ads than McCain, which is pretty much opposite to your stance earlier in this thread. Do you even read anything short of Obama propaganda??? :confused: As a self-proclaimed "independent," you sure are lopsided in your research and comments! :D

What do you think McCains negative attack ads cost to run? Pennies? It's been proven that McCain has only run negative attack ads, while Obama has spent more on them, that's because he has more money and more supporters forking up said money. But, Obama hasn't ONLY run attack ads like McCain. And then you have the automated calls, which Palin says if she was in charge she wouldn't do. Hmmm... yet she already recorded one herself. Colin Powell and many other Republicans have called for McCain to stop these ads that do nothing but spread lies.

The Democrats learned from the last election with the John Kerry swift boat attacks. Republicans are just getting upset because the Democrats are calling them out on their lies this time and going right back at them. We're tired of the BS after 8 years of Republican rule. Enough is enough!

I'll grant you this one. Huge gaffe, he shouldn't have said it. I thought Obama responded to it well, but still a gaffe.

That said, there are still a million other reasons to vote for Obama. Like lower taxes for 99% of Americans and an actual feasible plan for health care, and a new direction in energy policy outside of "drill, baby, drill".

Really?? From my TV set, i see negative Obama ads all day long! you really think that all of Obama ads (4:1 to McCain) are positive??? I call BS on this one! Dude, every ad from each candidate is a negative slander of the opposition. The fact that you do not see this is a damn shame and clearly shows just how blind you are!

Oh yeah, Obama is so dead honest that he said one thing about advertising money and then went a different direction...oh yeah, real honest!

It's not lying to get back, it's calling the Republicans out on their lies. Spin it all you want, but the Republican party is in a downward spiral. The American people have had enough... hence the polls.
