What is it that scares you about Obama?
While I have always been for Obama, I respected McCain and actually liked him back in the primary debates. If you look at his history, he is one of the most central republicans. I also respect his service to this country. However, I find it shameful when come spring, he shifted most of his views to align himself with the conservative base. This scares me. He talks about change, but can't even keep it up in his campaign views. What can we expect if he were to be elected? In my opinion, caving to the demands of the old time republicans.
For all of his experience, McCain seems to know little about the three big issues: Economy, War, and Health Care. On the economy, McCain said at least 3 times tonight that he wants the government to buy up all the bad mortgages in the country and refinance at the CURRENT value of the property. I'm going to guess that the average property value has dropped $25k from when it was bought with a bad loan. Who is eating this cost? The taxpayer? Ok, fine. Then what was the point of the bank bailout? People should pay for their homes, bad mortgages should be refinanced at whatever is owed. On the war(s), I personally don't see where McCain knows anything on this issue. While Obama wants to pull troops out of Iraq for a logical reason, we have spent $700b and continue to spend $10b/month for a war we can never benefit from, McCain want to stay so we "Win." Excuse me, but what the hell does that mean? What the hell can we possibly win after spending nearly $1t? NOTHING. Iraq wasn't the problem to begin with, Afghanistan was. On health care, McCain wants to throw $5k at every family to make them shut up about health care, when in my family, buying insurance isn't the problem. Its you buy decent insurance at a high rate, go to the doctor, then you get a bill saying the insurance company is only paying 40%. That is absurd.
Another thing about McCain is that he is OLD. Don't get me wrong, he could easily live another 20 years, but he is too old to be president. Look at how much Clinton and Bush aged over 8 years. It is an extremely stressful job, and I just don't think McCain can keep up with it. We are in the last month before the election and he doesn't campaign on the weekends. But for me, the truly scary aspect is the whole ticket. Like I stated before, Palin is just embarassing, and McCain's age makes the VP's more important than ever. But forgetting his age, how can we send Sarah Palin anywhere to represent our country? We often send Condoleeza Rice to represent us, and look at the difference between these women.
McCain is not in touch with the american people. His wife is worth in the hundreds of millions and he lives the lifestyle. How can we expect someone like that to know what its like down here? He can't even use the internet or send and email. Children as young as 4 can turn on a computer, log in, and start a game. His sheer ignorance towards technology is a big issue to me because technology will be key if we want to become THE world super power again.
John McCain is not a bad guy, he's just not the right guy.
