Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, Freedom to bear arms, the list goes on and Bush himself was a culprit in changing the constitution more than I would have liked as well.

First two I really wouldn't be worried about at all. He is pretty firmly against concealed carry though.

The first two are the main ones to be worried about. Teachers in our school systems already have to be careful what they say and a lot of it has to do with religion. Pledge of Allegiance, one nation under God, I have a feeling that will come up again soon. I understand that not everyone believes in God, but Athiesm is not a religion in my eyes. They are the ones that want to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance and have been the ones lobbying against prayer in schools and such.

Living in Texas, i am sure that if Obama were to go up against that right, he would get a handful from Texans! :) It is really nice to live in Texas just for that....

You're worried he's going to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance? I seriously doubt he would spend ANY political capital on an issue like that, given things like Health Care and Iraq. Say it does get removed though, what do you think will happen? Americans will turn into godless heathens? :)

Did you know the Pledge of Allegiance was written in 1892 by a Socialist, and originally didn't have God in it? The Pledge was amended in the 50's to include God because the Knights of Columbus (Catholic Group) lobbied for it.

It really baffles me. The new campaign strategy for US president should be to become a celebrity- get on facebook, act like a youth, and attract all of the big name celebrities. Every time I saw McCain, I noticed the limited range of motion in both arms. It was from WAR injuries- being a prisoner of war. To me, McCain is paying the ultimate price each day for serving his country and that alone was huge. Obama had a hard time saluting the American flag and wearing a pin on his suit jacket.

I was actually at a gathering for the last debate and on election day. At two different places, the crowd of more than 200 people acted the same- applauded when obama spoke and kept booing when mccain spoke. I couldn't even hear what both candidates were saying during the debate. As for yesterday, the place I was at drowned out McCain's concession speech with the song "Hit the Road Jack." Very classy! I was having a lengthy conversation with someone from Cuba and they told me that Obama and the way people react to him reminded them of life in Cuba with Castro........ you fill in the blanks!! Sorry for my little rant.

I agree, booing is very immature. Some people act like they are still in elementary school. When McCain made the concession speech you could really see that he was a good man, he definitely loves his country. Too bad those morons in the front booed Obama and ruined the speech. McCain had the respect to stand up even for the other candidate, and i think that shows a lot.

For those that absolutely hate Obama, I suggest two things. Take a good look at his policies, both candidates have been known to put words in each others' mouths. Secondly, there is not much you can do so try to be optimistic. Who knows, maybe Thai will be an Obamasexual in a couple of years :p Kind of like how being in a bad mood assures the rest of your day will be bad. You will be picking out every little bad thing. Take a look at the positives.

I fully agree with what you are saying. I am not going to sit around and look for more reasons to dislike Obama. If Obama can fix our failing economy and really change things for the better, that would be nice and my opinions would change. With what I have been reading and seeing, I am very weary of how it will be done. Believe me, I am probably one of the only ones in my age range who supported McCain. Even though McCain was not celebrity like, I thought many people didn't appreciate who he really was. Instead, people were quick to make fun of how much he used his POW story. I was actually tired of hearing CHANGE, because change is not always better.

I really would love to know how many people voted for Obama because of his views on the key issues?? I have been speaking to a few people who are 100% democrat and they told me that Obama was a little too far left for their liking.
 

Change for the sake of change is not always a good thing -- as we remember a certain man in Germany who brought "change" to his people.

That being said, Obama did indeed win the election fair and square. While I am diametrically opposed to him on nearly every issue - particulary with his stance on the Second Amendment, taxes and the size of government, I am going to "give him a chance" and will watch carefully what he says and does. If he governs as he campaigned (but I fear a hard turn to the left), it may not be so bad.

I'm as conservative and liberty-loving as they come, but I still do indeed wish him well as the next POTUS. The time for the pi55ing and moaning is now past us, the campaign is over and we should now think about getting down to business.

So long as he doesn't immediately come after my wallet or my guns, I'm going to say open-minded about the rise of the 'Obamanation' coming in January. I do think it is a bit unfair for some of my fellow right-wingers to start throwing brickbats when it is still more than two months before he even assumes office.

Now, after he swears in an promises to uphold & defend the US Constitution, all bets are off. The articles contained with the Bill of Rights have not changed!

I did. Namely on the Economy, Energy, Education, Health care, and the end of the War in Iraq. I think if you look at the exit polls for most Americans it would be the same.

The Republican party is in dire straights, they're starting to split into factions. You've got the fiscal conservatives on one side and the evangelicals on the other. They don't agree on a lot and it's starting to show. It will be interesting to see who the next chair of the RNC will be, specifically if he's more moderate like say Tom Ridge (pro-choice) or some one far right.

Historically, when the economy is in decline, Americans don't vote in the incumbent party, and most Americans favor Democrats to fix the economy as a general rule. This is strange considering the Republicans think of themselves as having fiscal responsibility, but still, true.
 
Exit polls don't really mean anything.

I agree with Mark, there's nothing we can do about electing a new president now, so we just have to let it take it's course. No reason to complain, yet. :).
