Why block license # in photos?

Like Falls said, privacy. A bit of paranoia too on some parts for some I guess. No matter, both my trucks' plates are registered under confidentiality since we have CHP/law enforcement in our family. If my plates were run under CA DMV or PD search they just come up as "Confidential/Peace Officer".

Let me give you a scenario:
You and Bob Internet get into an internet scuffle. Bob threatens to kick your ass over and under the internet bandwidths. He remembers seeing an old post of yours proudly displaying your Rig with license plate number unblocked. He has a buddy that has access to the DMV database and pulls up your personal info with just one click. You get a gun to your head and murdered by Mr. Internet. Game over!

As an aside, you'd be surprised how relatively easy it is to get someone's info by their license plate. My wife works for the DMV and CHP and can easily do this to look up felons and what not. Of course, you need supervisor approval, that which is easy enough since her uncle is the supervisor himself. That or a CHP officer, which my other uncle is and has authority to call up a search himself. Point being, if you have the proper access or inside resources under the table within your reach, you can dig up all sorts of info. Now I don't condone invading anyone's privacy by any means illicit, but where there is a will there is a way. You tick someone off good enough and they will retaliate. Our family is very heavily biased against law breakers or just a-holes on the road in general. We would have no hesitation in looking them up. As my uncle would say - be careful who you cut off or flip off on the road, they might just have the resources to cause you grief. The plates are all you need (given it's not stolen).

Think of how many people see your plates everyday on the road though? I just try not to piss people off... I won't post pictures of my audio stuff anymore though because my truck was broken in to twice... Just precaution, as I don't think any of ya'll would do that kind of bull****. And if you did, better not let me find out!!!:cannon: Anyways I have a personalized tag also... I guess I may just be naive...

I use to block mine out, but then I thought about it. I have 2 large dogs and several loaded guns in my house and one in my truck (good luck finding it lol).
