why do i have nipples?

fftopic: so ive noticed that my headlights have nipples on them and i want to know why. i was looking into getting some aftermarket lenses and some will have them and some wont. i know it cant possibly serve any purpose but if you know why they are there id be interested to hear the answer

well i guess i should just embrace the nipples but since i don't have an apparatus to align my headlights nor will i ever pay to align them my new headlights may not have them.

It might have something to do with that the headlights are made with glass; Perhaps back in '99, technology isn't far there yet to make the transparent glass headlights in that size without the nipples.

This reasoning might explain why the 4th gen headlights are made with plastic due to more lightweight and easier to manufacturer with any desired shape. :boink:

Eh? Ah yes now I remember why I started this thread! Yeah I prefer glass. It's not going to haze like plastic lenses do. Plus they look pretty nice when I shine them up. Would it be right to assume that the after market lenses that have nipples are made of glass?
