Why do people feel the need to do this?

I've noticed recently that douchebags who own bubba trucks with basically no mufflers like to rev their engines when passing others in truck-like vehicles.

What's the point of this? Are they trying to assert some self actuated dominance over traffic or something? Maybe they are upset at the bad life choices they've made and feel the need to let everyone know by bringing attention to themselves? Surely it's not for the ladies as I'm sure that sort of thing isn't very attractive to the intelligent and emotionally sound female, so I'm at a loss for this type of behavior.

I get why people on loud motorcycles might do this (mostly to let people know they're there so they don't get clipped by accident as is prone to happen when you remove 4 walls of protection on the highways), but for trucks it's just silly and childish.

Because Merica

Why do some guys chest bump instead of gently shaking hands?

Slap ass instead of a shoulder pat..

Chug beer instead of sipping it to enjoy the taste and hoppy aroma..

While working under the truck, another guy squats down beside you and farts...

The list goes on. It's just how it is, and should be. Don't be a beta. Get a louder exhaust and a faster truck.

Who cares?

I live in a very brodozer-heavy part of the country. A bunch of people own these cowboy cadillacs with zero intention of using them to tow things / go off road / etc.

Most of these guys are harmless though... they're the guys who, before the brodozer craze, would have been driving modified Mustangs and Camaros.

Even with all of the brodozers out there, you can always spot the a**holes... how? look for vertical smokestacks and a-pillar gauges.

It's these small-handed fellas who seem like they perpetually have something to prove as they flog their 4 ton pickup truck like it's a hatchback through traffic, all while spilling as much black smoke and noise as possible.

Pro tip: if your 5.9 liter Cummins spews more black smoke under load than it's 14 liter big brother... you're doing it wrong.

hahaha. I've never heard of that happening. Funny as it is, that sorta stuff would get you an ass beating around here.
,
An ass beating is neither sophisticated nor mature. How gauche.

The better response is to wait until they are under a truck, and then pee on their legs. MUA HA HA HA HAAAAA!

I think you answered this yourself...

Not all have the vertical exhaust,. Some have a 6" dia exhaust tip welded on, as if they were rocking an 8V92. As if.

Any exhaust tip big enough to reduce a departure angle by double digits deserves not a place on the rear end of a truck.

I have seen these sewer pipes on otherwise stock 12v Cummins / 6.0 Powerstrokes. Not impressed.

If your modern, computer controlled diesel is spewing black smoke at all, you got a bad tune....you should ask for your money back.

You should ask them.

B-b-but how else am I going to roll coal? Rolling coal is an integral part of my persona and I NEED it to compensate for the fact that I was born without a personality that people generally want to be around.

Bro dozer = small penis = dour outlook on life

I like it when those cocksuckers pass me at 20 over the speed limit on the freeway deliberately downshifting to drench me in black smoke when I'm in my motorcycle... then when the freeway turns into a multi-lane city street with red lights I get to lanesplit past them and (oops) if my barkbuster skins their door, that's a shame...

Don't forget, one must also extend the towing mirrors while rolling coal. You know, for that 60 foot ghost trailer they are towing. It's there, you just can't see it. I mean, why else would their truck squat like that if it wasn't?

Oh man towing mirrors out when people clearly aren't towing has to be one of my top 10 pet peeves on the road. When I used to bike to work, I can't tell you how many times I almost had my clock cleaned by some jerkoff who tows once a decade but "needs" to keep his towing mirrors out year 'round... you know, for looks.
