Why do the LED high beams work well but daytime running lights flicker?

Hey guys,
Did you replace the stock halogen high beam bulbs with after-market LED bulbs? The high beams work great, but why does it flicker in daytime running lights mode? This happens on vehicles that the stock halogen bulbs work as two functions, high beams, and daytime running lights.
But why? Even though the turn signal light and daytime running light(DRL) work on the same halogen bulb, the DRLs use a lower voltage(lower brightness) compared to the normal voltage high-beams(high brightness). When used as high beams, the bulbs get the full 12 V and run normally. When switching to DRL mode, they draw about 6 Volts. However, the after-market LED bulbs don't support two voltages, so when the LED bulbs work in DRL mode, the trip-computer inspection system assumes there is something wrong and causes a flicker to warn the driver.

We have tested our LSplus series 9005 LED bulbs on the 2019 Toyota 4Runner, the high beams work great as they should, but DRLs flicker slightly. If the stock bulbs work as high beams only, without DRL function, replacing the stock dim halogen bulbs with LED bulbs will be a great upgrade. If you don't mind DRLs flickering slightly, maybe you can try it.
For 2003-2020 Toyota 4Runner with OEM halogen high beams, the high beam is the same bulb size 9005/HB3. If you would like to replace the dim halogen high beam bulbs with bright LEDs, you could try Lasfit LSplus series 9005 LED bulbs or Super big 9005 LED bulbs.

Is there someone who has any solutions to fix the DRL flickering?

To my knowledge only XenonDepot has a true LED retrofit product that does not flicker at DRL voltages.

Same for my mother. She can tell even when “warm” LEDs are used in Christmas lights because they’ll give her headaches.

Despite what product marketing tells you, humans can ABSOLUTELY detect the 60 Hz flicker in LED bulbs.

The slow-to-cool-down glowing metal element in incandescent bulbs smoothes over the flicker so it produces a steady light.

None such protection for automotive applications where manufacturers use pulse width modulation to control brightness.

You’d need in-line capacitors or bulbs that advertise ones built in.

Uhhhh… you guys don’t seem to know much about electronics or 4Runner headlight optics or the different model years. Quit promoting these drop-in headlight LEDs. They are inferior, not SAE approved, and do not perform well. However, I do like some of your other automotive lighting products. Maybe you should stick to those.

I had the same issue so just removed my high beam LEDs and am just running LED headlight bulbs

Yes, do not buy the garbage products that you sell. Use Halogen bulbs in reflector housings designed for that light source.
