Why does my truck have two factory jacks?

2000 2wd. Stock suspension. No owners manual.

There is a factory looking bottle jack under the back seat and another factory - looking scissors jack in the rear storage compartment.

Why would I need both?

The scissor jack is not factory.

I didn't think so. The odd thing is that it's very nicely mounted with two straps and two brackets that look like they were designed to hold that jack.

I'll take it out. I'd rather have other things in that compartment.

They are actually designed to hold a folding warning triangle. In countries that require new cars come with them, that's where it goes. My Brazilian HiLux SW4 came with one.

Went with google to find out why my 99 4Runner has two jacks, I realize this is an old thread but my 4 runner does indeed have two factory jacks.

Well its been about 25 years since it was new... and somebody put a second one in there in that time. So, one is factory and one was put in there at a later date.
