Why dosent my radio work all the sudden.

So I have been trying to tackle the rear axle leaks for over a week now, got sick and one thing lead to another. Anyways, today I had to get it jumped and finally finished with the truck. After driving around for like 20min I noticed my freaking radio is not getting any power. Now at some point in the last week I know someone got into the truck and left a door open witch ran my battery dead. I haven't noticed anything missing and this is the first no-working thing I ran into. Do you guys think he took my fuse or something? where is it located? or dose anyone have any other ideas to why my radio would just stop getting power all together.

Looked at the fuse box under the hood and didn't see a place for a radio fuse, so where would it be located.

just looked under the dash, nothing that said radio. But I found that the slot labeled power witch was a 30amp fuse is just missing. Is that the one?

In the 3rd gen, the fuse you are looking for is the 15A acc fuse in the left side of the dash. Middle column at the top. I'll assume your dome lamps function correctly, otherwise the dome lamp fuse maintains memory for your radio as well.

Well I was looking at the panel wrong and the 30amp fuse is there, just pulled the 15a ACC fuze and its fine.... gerrrrrr

I'm going to have to pull the unit arnt I......

Is your radio factory or have you installed an aftermarket head unit?

I blew a fuse on my 4runner and radio didn't work. The fuse is a 15 AMP under the dash. Should be under the name ACC Power or something along those lines

Factory, probably going to have to upgrade. Going any farther into the problem is going to have to wait tho, I have a bunch of parts to throw in and they are priority. Maybe I will feel ambitious tomorrow and get it all done lol.

Just the radio doesn't work. You can sit there and hit the volume nob all you want the radio doesn't turn on. Only have to do the oil change today so I am back to looking at the radio. So would it be worth it to take the dash apart in both my trucks and see it the 91's aftermarket stereo works in the 02 (read they both use the same wire instillation kit). Or is there another place to look for the no power all the sudden. Everything is tip top atm but the radio.

There are actually 2 fuses to check for the stereo, the ACC fuse under the dash and the Dome fuse in the box under the hood. I would definitely check both those before tearing the dash apart. Did you check to see if you interior map lights are working? If they're out, you know it's the dome fuse.

Just the radio doesn't work. You can sit there and hit the volume nob all you want the radio doesn't turn on.

Is the unit just a radio? or does it have a CD player and/or cassette player too? If it has those other capabilities, do they work?

Anyway, some factory head units have an anti-theft feature. If a previous owner has input a security code of their choosing into the head unit, and then power to the unit is lost, (battery dies, etc.) then you would need to punch in that code to get the unit working again.

If the unit has such a feature, and if it does you obviously don't know the code, then you'll need to go to a Dealer for help.

dome lights work perfectly, haven't used the running lights. the unit is the factory CD/AM/FM unit, has no power at all. I just got it pulled out and noticed there are 2 plug holes in the back of the unit and one wasent being used. I couldn't find a plug hanging around back there that looked like it went into the vacant spot. Is this normal? And unfortunately I got both trucks apart to find there harnesses don't match. Bummer but at least I have the unit out of the 91 and the mounting brackets are the same, just need the right harness kit. -crossing fingers hoping that $200 check from Toyota shows up, from parts I returned.-

I have the same problem but with my the dome light won’t turn back on, it started today when I was changing out the lightbulb. Could you help me out and tell me what I could do?

A couple things come to mind. Have you tried switching the dome light from "door" to the "on" position?

The switches in the doors can stick and not turn the dome light on. I've noticed this happens more in winter.

If the dome light still doesn't turn on when you put the switch to the "on" position, you may have blown the fuse. Grab a volt meter and double check to see if you are getting power to the light.

If not, check the fuse and see if its blown.

If the fuse is fine and you still don't have power to the dome light, check the wiring next.

I have a 97 so fuses are in a slightly different columns but the posts about troubleshooting to ACC and then past that to DOME were tremendously helpful. Finally updated my 25 year old Beast to new Sony radio and added the rear camera over plates and then had to figure out the no power issue due to blown DOME fuse. Thank you guys again.
