Why I ditched my LR Discovery for a 4Runner

Regardless of the shortcomings, I had a lot of fun and met a lot of great people through LR Events.

I almost never have good expierence with other Land Rover owners, besides my high school buddy and this women in town, you go to talk to them about their cool series/defender or lifted Range/Disco and its like your nothing and they are just like "yeah" and ignore you in the conversation. And while i love LR's to death their owners around here are not friendly people.

Most likely those are the ones that know nothing about their vehicle or its capabilities and own a LR cause celebrities own one.

More likely, it is an American Land Rover. They are pieces of absolute crap.

I get that the Defenders are badass. But that is it. And unless you get one imported in or buy an older one already here, you are buying a huge piece of crap. In fact, I would rather own a Honda CRV than those gross monstrosities that are the American Land Rovers, because the CRV is more reliable.

Well, not trying to bring back this thread but there was no where else appropriate for this, my household no longer has any land rovers, i say that with sadness and joy as Rover was due for an oil change and no i dont have to do it, as well as some other odd ball jobs that needed to be done. The Disco left on a good note, and after 97k miles of having that car, i can say that it was no less reliable than my 4runner, and boy that is one of few automatics that i have driven that i thoroughly enjoy, I'm just really happy that the headgasket didnt go, that would have been one bad weekend doing that job. My parents traded it in to get a Jeep Patriot, i like the jeep as well, but my heart lies with the defender.

Which Jeep Patriot model did they get?? Used or new? CVTL tranny? What do you think of the ride and noise level??

Nah, his next car is another jetta tdi, unless this mazda Cx-5 comes in AWD diesel and with a manual transmission, but I doubt they will do that amazing combo.

Back to the jeep, it's the Patriot Limited, it has heated leather seats, the 2.4l with an automatic (she hates manual), I'm not sure how many gears are in it, it has enough power and some sort of 4wd/AWD. They bought it used with 35k miles on it as a certified jeep. As for road noise, the disco was good in this department, the jeep could definetley use a little more refinement, but I mean it's a $20k American car you only expect so much. It rides nice, I will be able to give a more in depth report after I drive it more than 5 miles.

Well, CX5 with gasser gets pretty good mileage...i think 25/30 or something for AWD model. Engine is kinda small though for a CUV that size.

There is no "automatic"...it is a CVT tranny. Thanks for the feedback on the ride and noise! My sister in law may be interested in it...so, keep me updated if you can please.
