I was born and raised in Montpelier, VT. Fall was always my favorite time of year - Halloween, football, helping my grandparents cut firewood, deer season, Thanksgiving, more football, and looking forward to ice fishing

My brother lives in Rutland and complains about all the "leaf peepers" in the Fall - i.e. busloads of tourists - but back in the 70's, that wasn't really an issue.

I miss VT. But I've discovered that Northern MN has almost everything VT has, yet seems a lot less traveled.

I thought Sault Ste Marie, Michigan was cold... Then we moved to the balmy climes of Duluth, Minnesota !!!

Nothing like the Boundary Waters though.

i second that, i spent a month canoeing and portaging throughout the boundary waters in mn/can. Glad I had the chance to do it. It was beautiful.

BWCAW and Arrowhead pics I've taken: 18-Mile Lake near Isabella, MN, old roads (lots of logging camps and resorts were swallowed up when the area became National Forest, but the roads and ruins are still there), timberwolf tracks.

Those two pics of the fire/logging road almost look like "before and after" shots of the same road. Beautiful area.
