Why interior LED's blowing dome fuse?

Hi,

2016 SR5 Premium 4Runner

I just bought a set of LED's off of amazon from JDM astar (maybe not the best on the market?).

I changed out only the interior lights below to include:
Vanity mirrors
Dome light
Map light
door courtesy lights

I tested each LED after installing and it worked. That night I opened the door to check it out with the door courtesy lights going on, dome light going on and map lights on (dome and map set to door), and the lights shut off instantly shut off.

The dome fuse in the engine bay blew.

Any idea's on why it did this? I've removed all LED's for now but need to head over to auto store to get replacement fuses.

Does quality of LED's matter? I did some searching around but didn't find any specifics on this. Hopefully i searched correctly.

Any thoughts is appreciated.

Most likely a defective led, I have the $15 eBay kit installed with no issues.

Any thoughts on how to test besides putting one in, turning all on, putting next one in, turning all on again, and so on.

Or maybe im over thinking it? All lights worked after each install. Just not altogether.

What you said is the easiest, foolproof way to narrow it down. Just try putting in a new fuse, then replacing leds one by one til the fuse blows again to find the faulty led or circuit.

I see what your saying, they all worked independently. Did you buy a super high output kit or something? Sounds like the total wattage was more than the stock circuit was designed for. If it were me, I would return them and buy elsewhere, they do look good when working.

Good point. It's probably what it is. I ended up buying a set off of ebay off of one of the LED conversion threads i found while searching. It's got those updated brighter LED 5630 chips. Hope it works out. Already got half my money back from Amazon on the entire order since some weren't working.

Good point. It's probably what it is. I ended up buying a set off of ebay off of one of the LED conversion threads i found while searching. It's got those updated brighter LED 5630 chips. Hope it works out. Already got half my money back from Amazon on the entire order since some weren't working.

got the exact set. mine are flickering like crazy. the seller's been great in sending me new ones, but they work half the time. the license plate led's i stopped replacing and put the oem bulbs back. the map lights, rear tail gate and dome led's flicker even after replacing them with new ones from the seller. my door lights and puddle lights have no issues.

not sure what to do either.

Ah darn! I just put in an order for that one. I'll try my hand at it and if not, send it back to them. Thanks for the heads up. I should've waited just a little more.

Howdy. I was installing the Precision LED kit yesterday and when I got to the dome light they all went out. Anyone know which fuse I should look at? Thanks!
