Why so many silver 4Runners?

Especially 4th gens;I was out and about yesterday and I saw 23 4th gens and 15 were silver and another 4 were charcoal grey,2 blue and one red and one white.

Silver is kinda boring IMO and I guess Toyota figures the buyers for 4runners don't want too many color options and like offering a fairly neutral just like they do with the Camrys.
The only truck Toyota adds color to is the FJ and I do see more than a few red or blue Tacomas but 4Runners #1 color is silver. With the 5th gen silver is still prodominent but I do see alot of white Limiteds and the occassional red or blue but still mostly silver. I wish Toyota would offer a dark green again on a TE and that would be my next truck real quick.

Yes I know. If green becomes available I will trade in a heartbeat. I would get red if they had the bright red.

I bought a silver 4Runner because it's too hot in Houston for black and it doesn't show dirt as much as a black or white 4Runner.

I also bought it used, so it was either silver or a marroon color and I bleed orange too much for that shade of color.

Go Pokes and Hook 'em Horns.

Yep totally agree.. Silver is most popular.
I was shopping Gen4 T4R's last week and the available colours in my area were dominated by Silver.. I ended up purchasing Black, but it was 2 hours away..

white is most popular car color in US. I love white, I`d have bought white if it was available when I bought my red. I love red too but white pearl looks amazing, iI would take silver only if it was free, hate that color.

I would have bought white but silver was the only game in town when I was ready to buy. I was planning on going with black wheels from the get go and white or silver look best with black wheels IMO.

Silver is good at hiding scratches and dirt. It's also fairly innocuous so it goes with everything and people will go for silver where they wouldn't got for red, yellow etc. so it's better to sell. It also reflects heat better and keeps the car cooler. It's rather boring but I have had several silver 4Runners and wife has a silver Outback. Great color overall.

I never liked silver cars, and never understood why people got them. But when I started looking for a 4runner, I just thought that silver looked the best. Its just one of those cars that works in most colors. But I do really like the dark green.

Boring? How dare you!

Naw, I agree. I see them everywhere too. My guess is that it's the most neutral color. People either really love or hate black. Same with white. When I was looking for my Runner, I wanted a black sport. Got a silver one because the deal was just too good to pass up on. Now that I have it, I love the color. If the exact same Runner was offered to me in black, I wouldn't switch it.

I got silver because it doesn't show as much dirt. I originally wanted black but didn't want the PITA to keep it clean. That said, I still wash mine alot, but I do love the silver.

Grayscale colors are the best! They go with everything. Silver and gray especially because they dont show dirt as much.

Ive done the whole red truck thing, no thank you.

I actually tried to buy a silver 2011 T4R but could not find one and the one I did find was sold so I ended up with the Blizzard Pearl. This is my 2nd white 4Runner. One salesman said maybe you were just meant to own white cars?
Silver is popular because as others have mentioned it always looks clean. So does tan/beige/desert colors but those colors are for Buicks (old people). I still like silver cars. They look good with black accents.

I see silver a lot and wound up finding mine in silver. I think it's a nice color for the truck. It's not a color that typically stands out on any car usually, but for some reason it's very nice IMO on the 4R.

If I could pick, it'd be between the dark grey and white.

I bought silver because it was the only one with nav on the lot :D I like silver because it is low maintenance and it never gets boring. It is probably the easiest color to sell as well.
