Why the rake??

It's raked for crash safety standards. You can de-rake for as little as $40.

I am the exact same. Never thought twice about the rake until I saw the difference on here, then made the change - no more bloodhound sniffing on the ground look.

Don't quote me, but i think that the RR lowers itself even lower at speed. The park lowering feature has to be activated manually...i think.

When it worked, the air suspension on my 99 Range had four different suspension heights

-Normal (normal driving)

-Highway (1" lower than normal, suspension drops when a speed is reached and maintained for a certain amount of time. I vaguely remember that speed being 55mph)

-Access (2" lower than normal, standard height when parked)

-Extended (1.6" above normal, for off-roading)

Wow, a few different configurations on the Land Rovers, huh? Either way, I still think that crash safety is a cop-out as a reason for the raked look. If you think about it, even if there were a law that mandated the height of an SUV (or truck) front end, then the manufacturers could just as easily put the rear end at a similar height to reduce or vitually eliminate the rake.

Maybe it's all about the current style.... some people actually prefer the rake. I like a bit of rake, but not to the extent that we see on the 4th gen 4Runner. But I do prefer some rake to a completely level look.
