why the switch from HID's

I noticed the other day that the 4th gen 4RT has HID headlights and I am wondering if anyone knows why they switched for the 5th Gen?

The 4G does not have HID headlights. They are halogen projectors, same as the 2014s now have.

Why? Who knows.

Didn't the 4th gens only get projectors as part of their mid-cycle refresh? Same as the 5th gens got them for their mid-cycle refresh in 2014. Seems kind of weird for Toyota to add the feature, remove it, and then add it again, but I guess they wanted to hold something in reserve for the refresh, maybe.

Yes, starting in 2006.
