Wi-Fi Question

Okay so here is what I am trying to do. Connect my laptop to the internet by using my desktop.
My desktop is connected to my router.
I have an ethernet cable connected from my desktop, to my laptop
Is there any way I can use my desktop as a "host" for my laptop to use the internet?
Please no questions as to why I am doing this. All I want is some help and advice. If I can not do this, it is no problem.

yes you can do it.

It would be 10000x easier with a $10 switch.


You desktop will need two nic cards. And you will have to configure the two nic card to be on different networks. I am going to assume since your asking basic networking 101 question you do not know how to do that. So just buy a $10 switch from amazon or frys and be done with it.

You will need two connections, one wired and one wireless or two wired then bridge the connections.

Why wouldn't he have the ethernet from the modem to the router and connect both wireless to the router?
