Wiggle in the rear

Hi guys I just have a few concerns regarding my 99 sr5 4runner 4wd

When I let go of the accelerator pedal at higher speeds (35km/h>)the back end of the runner wiggles (side to side) once and when I press the accelerator pedal again it wiggles (side to side) once.
This only happens when I let go of it and or press on it.

I remember reading a thread here one guy stated something about a "butt-wiggle" but I don't know if he is referring to the same thing.

I have an rear Aussie locker in the back I don't know if that's what's causing it

It really doesn't bother me, but going to work im all highway driving and I like to use cruise control and when I have to press the brake pedal or set it to cruise again it always does it. Any thoughts about this? I checked all my tire pressures, there all good.

My guess is it's your bushings in the upper and lower control arms for the rear. They're probably worn and are allowing movement

yeah i was wondering if that was one of the problems,

1.Forgot to mention that I have my left rear sway bar end link disconnected, would that have any affect?

2. other thing i noticed is that when i let go of the throttle the momentary sway goes from (Right to left), AND when i press the throttle it seems like it goes from (Left to Right). or vice versa one of the other but its pretty distinctive.

i recently had the same issue and i have almost the exact specs as you. aussie locker and no sway bars. i replaced my upper and lower arms with different ones and it made it all better. so if at min you replaced the bushings it would prob solve your issue.

That's the root of it. My truck will do that too if I abruptly change throttle in the middle of a sweeping high speed turn, it's normal for an automatic locker. It shouldn't do it when you're going straight though, or with moderate throttle changes.

I'm with the other guys, check your bushings.

Is your axle actually shifting from side to side, or are you experiencing body roll? From this post it really sounds like you're experiencing body roll. Not having the sway bar connected will cause quite a bit more body roll, but the axle still shouldn't be moving.

If your axle is moving from front to back, and back to front. I'd lean towards your control arms. If it's moving from right to left, and left to right. I'd lean towards your track bar. Your control arms will effect the way the axle is positioned from front to back. If those bushings are bad the axle can move around. The track bar positions the axle in the center of the vehicle. If those bushings are bad you'll have the axle pushing and pulling from side to side.

X2... I have driven numerous vehicles with different rear auto lockers, and what happens is the locker gets real close to engaging and/or disengaging sometimes when on the highway, and it will suddenly lock in or unlock, causing that wiggle in the rear. This will feel much worse if rear control arm and track bar bushings are worn. The Aussie locker has a reputation for being one of the smoothest with unlocking/locking, so you probably have some worn out bushings like others have said. Take a crow bar and pry on the control arms slightly in their mounting pockets to check for play/worn bushings.

Its more of a body roll, I don't really know what it feels like when my axle shifts side to side.

Yeah now im gearing towards replacing both Upper and Lower arms and bushings, if you don't mind what did you go with, and what site?

And another problem that just occurred to me, during a small left radial turn (not a complete left turn) at speeds 30km/h > or mostly highway speeds the truck tends to sway side to side abruptly, at one time in the highway while making a slight left turn (following the highway road)the truck would sway side to side, my friend thought that I was screwing around with him and just moving the steering wheel left to right repeatedly. I told him that the steering wheel is straight (following the road) and that the truck was doing that by itself or cause the left rear link is disconnected which was causing the side to side body roll. I only said that cause when I do slight right turns it doesn't do it or never experienced it yet.

All of this points directly to your sway bar and nothing else. That is exactly what happens when you're disconnected. I know way to much about sway bars, sway bar links, and how it all works.

If it's a body roll then it's 100% the sway bar. The sway bar is there to help stabilize the body, and keep it from rolling. Once they're disconnected there's nothing keeping it from rolling side to side anymore. About 80% of your body roll comes from rear due to the lack of weight and coil springs. The front disconnected won't roll much since you have a lot more weight with the engine, and coilovers tend to be quite a bit stiff than coils.

yeah, I already bought 2 Moog sway bar end links ( I know I know I should have went oem but I heard good and bad things about it), should be coming in soon,
yeah ill try testing it out on the highway doing long slight right turns see if sway side to side. yeah as stated before im disconnected on the left rear only.

If I were to replace the bushings, where and what would I be looking for, sorry new to this whole thing.
would I have to replace upper and lower control arms bushings? where would the best place to buy it from

The only difference between having 1 side disconnected and 2 sides disconnected is the sway bar isn't flopping around. Having 1 side disconnected will still give you just as much body roll as having both sides disconnected.

my buddy made some heavy duty adjustable links. but sounds more sway bar with that description. couldn't hurt to do the bushings too especially if you are higher mileage

@OP, I would never drive with just one end link connected get another one on there buddy!

There's nothing wrong with only having one side connected. It has the same manners as having no sway bar at all. Some people don't mind the body roll, and some people can't stand it. To fully utilize this approach you need to fabricate an actual sway bar disconnect. This is something I'm working on to go along with my links. Building the sway bar itself to disconnect just before or after the bend is ideal. If you can disconnect the sway bar from one side, and remove that link as well. You'll essentially be completely disconnected while still having one side connected. You'll gain the benefits of being disconnected, but with half the work.

Yeah ordered me some Moog end links, already.

BTW guys what do you recommend for rear control arms bushing kits? if you can get the site or your input that would be great. been hearing a lot of energy suspension polyutherane kit anyone have insight of this?

and I were to replace the whole LCA's what do you guys recommend,

im planning to do a whole revamp of the rear suspension including ball joints and such, beore winter starts here in Canada

UPDATE!

I installed me some Moog sway bar end links and the swaying is now not as noticeable, don't have a problem of swaying side to side as much anymore,

BUT now that its installed, Maybe it is the rear LCA's or the Panhard bar
because when I accelerate the car tends to lean towards the right, and when I let off the gas it goes back to its original position. any thoughts? I just had my wheel balanced and alignment

I have Lc80 9wrap springs with stock panhard bar and Lca's

100% sure it's your LCA bushings are shot, got these off amazon for a good price unless you want after market ones my review is also on there, so far it's held up good, and I suggest you change both drivers and passengers at the same time..
