Will 35W HID melt fog housing?

Hey Guys,

Looking to upgrade my current ’17 headlights & fog lights to HID’s from DDM Tuning. I’ve used them in the past and have always been satisfied.
However, before I make the order, I wanted to ask about the fog lights. From my understanding, the fog lights are 19W. I plan on purchasing the DDM Ultra HID Kit 35W. Am I likely to melt the plastic housing? Or cause any other damage? What are you guys using?

In my honest opinion, the HID's will more than likely cause you an issue with your lens.
H11 halogens in those may actually cause issues, so I would think HID's would as well. I may be wrong, but I wouldn't do it.

Most of us are using some type of quality LED's, either it be a complete assembly or a LED replacement for the H16 currently in the housing....

I put the Baja Squadrons in the fog pockets.......but I don't need ''Fog'' lights in the Low Desert..........:thumb:

I put 35W hid bulbs in my fogs and while it works they look terrible for oncoming traffic. I actually keep them off at all times now just because they have so much glare.
I ordered the Morimoto XD LED fogs instead.

please just replace them with something like the morimoto fogs, rigid fogs with the 4runner kit, or the baja squadron wide driving with the 4runner kit?

hids in fogs will.. blind everyone. and yes it will possibly melt the fog light itself, its very light weight, and plastic.

would the fog light housings have any problem with these LED'S in them? or no ?

For what it's worth, hella micro de fogs are a magnesium bodied halogen projector foglamp which supposedly tolerate hid's very well. I have them, only with stock halogens, and like them very much. I didn't necessarily have a problem with the factory fog output but didn't feel like macguyvering a way to make them work on an aftermarket bumper, hence the hella's. Goodluck.
