Will changing fuel filter on 89 22re get gas everywhere?

Wanting to swap out my fuel filter on my 89 4R. Since I'm in my driveway I'm concerned about leaking fuel. How much of an issue is it? Will just a pencil suffice to stop any leaks from the fuel line? Thanks guys.

It'll leak but its not gonna be like a fire hose or anything.. you can clamp the lines as long as they aren't brittle

as long as you relieve fuel pressure by disconecting fuel pump and then starting the car till car wont start anymore. It helps alot.
