Winch help

I'm finally using my Runner as intended on trails in my area, dreaming about the Rubicon by late summer, was in a tight spot today, Now, I'm thinking about a winch
I'd like some input:
Easy to install
Easy to operate
Good price

I went with the Smittybilt XRC8 as well... I got the "Comp" version with the synthetic line and the aluminum fairlead. It's a little more, but a good deal w/the included synthetic line.

Check out my build thread Four Flusher... I just added an index in the first post to make things easier to find. LOTS of info on the XRC8 in there, from clocking it to setting it up, and I just got done w/in-cab control for it.

BTW, I just saw in the 4WheelParts magazine that Smittybilt is going to be offering a waterproof/submersible version of the XRC8 very soon. Something to think about.

I hear if you buy a winch and keep it in your living room, it makes it work 100x better. At least that's the case with my sliders.

im a huge fan of warn winches, ave used and abuse them had them come down hard on rocks(hard enough to break the housing) and they still work fine, hit a deer at 50+mph with the winch on the front of my truck, didnt hurt a thing, bent my mobile mount. and they are all dust/weather/water proof(untill you split the housing on a rock). but ive pulled over trees with my winch, pulled my truck other trucks and a couple tractors with my 9.5ti. -my housing has been busted for almost a year, ive had it in the sand, mud, rain, submerged under water, dust road spray you name it is been in that thing and it still works like a champ. never had a smitty built but i know they dont pull as fast as a warn but they seam to work and be reliable, never seen one break down yet. there is also milemarker and ramsey as well as superwinch make sure you get at least an 8,000lb preferably a 9500lb winch if you can

I've got a smittybuilt 10,000lb on my 04 and have used it many times without issue. Works as well as any other winch brands my buddies use.
