window leak???

washed the 4runner tuesday night (2nd wash since i got it), and I noticed water inside the driver side cargo area window. I am really confused, because I ran water over that area again and again after wiping it dry and could not get it to leak again. Has anyone had this issue?

I know you said it was on the inside of that window...but...any possibility the rear gate window was down just a hair that you did not see and when you washed the back water got through and hit the inside of the other window?

I actually just noticed water inside my drivers side cargo area window. Did you ever get this issue resolved?

was it a lot of water? when my sr5 is wet and i open the door, i almost always get a fair amount of water drip off the roof onto the inside of the door, seat, floorboards, etc, but have not had it coming in through the inside when the doors/windows are closed.

There is a sunroof drain that drains via a hose back near the cargo area on the driver side (I assume a similar drain is on the passenger, but I've not had the trim removed on that side yet). Some times those hoses get disconnected or where not properly installed. You may want to check that.

The hose is back in this area; remove the jack and look behind the trim towards the front of the vehicle.

Also remember that car washes run at high pressure, so you may not be able to reproduce the issue with a garden hose. If the rear glass was wet, My first thought would be as well that the rear glass wasn't all the way up.

i think i misunderstood your question. I was thinking you meant the inside of the driver's side door where that storage bin is. After reading it again, sounds like it is in the back of the vehicle. Disregard.

For clarification, I am talking about the rear window on the drivers side above the gas cap. The waters dripping from the top of that window down the window to the interior trim. When I pull the trim back I see wetness rolling off the top plastic trim piece that goes between that window and the headliner. The headliner does not appear to be wet.

I'm not sure how the drain hose comes down; you may want to pull the trim and check if you are sure its not the side window rubber molding/gasket. The sunroof gutter drain has at least one pressure fit connection, so a second one (for instance for a 90 degree bend down towards the bottom of the cab) may not be out of the question.

Was that side of the car in the sun/shade? could it be that you had condensation based on the temp difference between the glass and the water from the car wash?

Thanks. I am going to triple check (a) the roofrack holes - since I have a bajarack and (b) the rear hatch grommet where my CB coax is fed through tomorrow and add more silicone if there are any areas that appear less than watertight. Also going to get a bit more specific with water testing tomorrow and run some water from my camelback directly over the window to make 110% sure that is the issue.
