Window Regulator

1990 T4r, SR5, 4 door w door lock, power window, etc., and master switch.

I would appreciated any comments or suggestions whether there are any 'red flags' I should be aware of before disassembling the Driver's power window motor and regulator.

For those who had an urge to chime-in, removed the assembly, now aware should have noted regulator mounting screw alignment to door panel?

My .02 is to just get a complete regulator from a used parts/wrecking yard and replace it complete.
If you're replacing the motor... a few years back when I was in the parts business, I would sell a motor to a customer, and sometimes they wouldn't work. They always would work if the customer had replaced the complete regulator assembly. Our theory was that the aftermarket motor was made to match the aftermarket regulator and not the stock one.
If you're using Toyota parts, no problem. But I'd still say just get one from a yard.
But that's my .02...

Appreciate the input! That was my thinking, salvage yards are considerably distant from my home so rather than spend the $ on gas decided it cheaper to purchase a new aftermarket regulator assembly with motor at what seems like a reasonable price.

Make sure you check RockAuto. Dorman is the brand that almost every parts store carries for that stuff. I just looked, and it shows $61.89 for the front left, no vent, 4 door, regulator and motor.

On the same page: Ordered Dorman (741-536), could have purchased cheaper thru another supplier, deciding factor; recently purchased parts thru RB's and very pleased with their quick service and return policy. Awaiting confirmation the item is in the mail.

Update: After market replacement installed in a matter of min's, obvious can not compare to OEM but for now? it works.

Thank you!
