Window tinit doesnt match!

If you use the search feature you would find numerous tint threads discussing these differences. Specifically threads by either myself, or Josh200. I do not have the time to do your research for you.

To give you an easily understandable conclusion.

3M: Either red or green from inside, with a green appearance from outside.

Formula 1: Charcoal in color, both inside and out, excluding when 5% is put over clear glass. Then the green that is seen, is from the glass, not the tint.

I have compared these side by side. I had formula 1 on the front windows, and 3M on the back. I had to do a second layer of tint on the back (formula 1) because the windows appeared green when looking out, and let in a red light which made my interior appear red. (How it let in red light when it looked green, I have yet to figure out. )

Even from higher end 3M dealers, such as Campbell Tinting, it's the same discolored material.

No, Formula 1 does not. But if that bothered you, then the discoloration will definitely bother you with the 3M. I never thought the differences were so drastic until I switched. And like I said, at first I had my front windows with Formula 1 and the rear windows had 3M. The difference was insane. I suggest doing it right the first time. I'd hate to have you come back after tinting your truck, and to hear that you were unhappy because of the choice you made. This is just my experience, but I do suggest going with Formula 1. Find a shop near you that uses it. The one near me is called Tint Pro's, but I am not sure if they have other locations. Companies such as Campbell are more wide spread, but use 3M.

The difference in price isn't as drastic as some would think. If you did your entire vehicle, all 7 windows, you would pay around $50-$60 more for Formula 1. So if you are just looking to do your front windows, you won't be spending excessive amounts of extra money.

Also, on a side note, Formula One has many more shades to choose from than 3M does. So they will be able to match the color to your back windows with much more precision.
