Window tint decisions??

How well can you see tinting over the factory tint in the rears? You suggest 32/35 would you go darker? Why did you tint over factory tint?

See my pics above your post you can definitely tell it is darker with tint over the factory tint. Like I said I did 20% front and 35% everywhere else over the factory tint.

I tinted the whole thing because even though you can get a close match just doing the front windows I personally can tell and hate it when the front windows look darker than the back. Also from inside the vehicle if you just tint the front it is very obvious and I wanted it all to be consistent.

Tint is very subjective though and everyone will have their own opinion on what looks best though but I am very happy with my setup

Make sure you understand the law in your state.

Some states say you the front can have up to 35%. HOWEVER. If the vehicle already comes with a tint, then you are NOT allowed to add tint even if the tint will still keep you below 35%.

If your vehicle doesn't come with factory tint then you can add up to the states limit.

Many states don't allow any tinting to the front side windows. And only 35% to the rear windows. But each state is different. I know many of the southern states you can add as much tint as you want.

tint

Getting my windows tinted here in a few days and my plan is to go with 20% on the front two windows and 35% over the rear factory stained glass.

My question is does anyone think the front windows with 20% will be darker than the rear with 35% over the factory tint?....My goal is to avoid the front windows looking darker than the rear. Thanks!

It depends on your state law Im in wv and for suvs and trucks we can have the rear as dark as we want, but the front has to be 35. Mine on the other hand is 20% on the front windows and 5% on the back windows over top the factory stained glass and a 5% strip on the winshield. I love it and the cops really don't mess with me either. Most cops won't say anything unless your driving like an idiot or doing something stupid.

I appreciate all the input and pictures, it helps get an idea. Luckily the cops here in TN aren't bad at all with tint, my brother has about 5% on his 3rd gen and never has had an issue with cops.

I would go 20% all around, limo is too much but with 35% you might as well keep it stock

I just recently bought my 4Runner and I've not tinted it yet (it has some tint on it but its definitely no more than 35%, and I hate it) haha

I had 5% on the fronts on my Escape and 15% over the factory on the back and it matched up great! I did not put any tint on the very back (hatch) window so that it would be easier to see to back up at night n such.
I loved it and plan to do the same on my 4Runner.

Before/After

Factory Tint vs SolarGard film

Had 17% on all windows except for the front windows
Had 23% on both front glasses (go for 23% all around if you want a bit darker i the front)

Toronto doesn't have long bring days most of the days i na year so I went a bit lighter for the front windows
