Window Visors

Hey guys, I am about to do an easy mod: window visors. I want to get the in-channel ones; I am not a fan of the 3m stick-ons.

I have searched for reviews and none of them were helpful, so I thought I would see what you guys had to say from your experience.

So what do y'all think? What kind should I get? What brand? Thanks

Fwiw, I have the stick on ones on my 97 4runner, put them on it when I bought it new in 97 (currently has 159k miles on it) and they're still on it, no problems with three of them, on the front right I had to replace a mirror, so I had to undo it from the mirror and put new tape on, but that was all my doing....that was back in 2000 and its still in great shape....

Santa brought me AVS (Auto vent shade) inchannel rainguards (4 pack), and they are great, I saw it at Advance Auto for $40 for all the windows. Mine are smoked in color and look great IMO. Some links to mine installed. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/58808-3rd-gen-christmas-gifts-4.html http://www.toyota-4runner.org/494604-post27.html

Weathertech

IMO the Weathertech visors look the best by a long shot. The stick on ones are $hit - stay away.

I bought mine from autoanything.com

I think the Wade ones look the best. They are priced really well too.

+1 on the AVS ones, they look great and are affordable.
One problem I ran into is my tint shop wasn't able to tint my front windows without having to take the whole window off because the visors were in the way.

i got the wade in channel visors. I think they all come with the 3m double sided tape to make it stable. or at least mines did. got mines for about 50 bucks

There is something wrong with them then. It is possible to do it without removing the window or the visors. They need to get the machine that cuts the tint out.

i have the stick on ones..in channels are much better but mine were free so i'm not complaining. weathertech makes the best ones but they are a little bit more expensive

Yeah, you got somebody that doesn't know what they're doing mista. My guy cut the tint himself, put it on, and then I just left the windows barely cracked for a few days.

John....the difference is pretty clear if you saw fire's up close (or look at the pics of the Wade's above). They don't have that indent along the edge that can been seen in the first link you posted. Plus yours stop short of the front window (by the side mirror)...again check out the Wade's, they go the full length of the window

Fire...do yours say anything on them? I have been trying to figure out what mine are but they don't say anything anywhere. They look similar to yours.
Clemson...is the Wade decal removable? Yours also look like mine

Here are my unknowns

Yes, the sticker or decal is removable. We probably have the same ones.

So it looks like it is between the Wade and the Weathertech. Both of them look great and seem to be high quality.

Thanks for all your help guys, I really appreciate it.

Not that i really care what you end up buying, the Wade ones although people say they look cool are the knock off weather tecs and are $10 more expensive than AVS ones that were reccomended to my father by his buddy who owns a shop.

How are they knock offs? They are window visors. It's not like it's a tire or something that can have infinite designs.

i think just becuase weathertec is the larger known brand, i use that sort of terminology sometimes for lesser known manufactures, has nothing to do with the stealing of design or anything but more to just explain any given style
with a contextual reference. if that makes any sense what so ever...lol

That's what I thought, I just passed and said I'd do it another time. Guess I'll go to some place that does the computerized cutting! :thanks:

I think my Weathertechs had a small little Weathertech sticker on the front ones only.

John, the WT are lower profile than yours, and don't have the ridge. Plus the smoke color of the WT looks better than the darker shade of yours.

I think the stick on ones all look pretty ghetto-fabulous. The Wade ones pictures above look very similar to the WT.

This is all just my $.02 Here is another side angle photo which shows them a bit better.
