reloading a XP Machine. passes verification, going with MS Essentials, Malwarebytes, Advanced System Care. I have used Defender years ago, and always had good luck with SuperAntiSpyware. Is Defender worth it? thanks, ran

Just run MS Security Essentials. You shouldn't need anything else unless you're surfing some questionable sites.

MS Essentials is on my XP Pro Lappy and proven to be a pretty good A/V. Still a dedicated spyware program finds more. This is the fifth PC in this house. thanks

Well, Windows will not load Defender if Essentials is in place. I was online for 15 mintues, ran Defender-nothing found. Ran 'Advanced System Care' and found 11-spyware, 1-registry change and load of junk files.
Suggest you try Advanced System Care at CNET downloads. Going with SuperAntiSpyware next.
