personally i like Windows XP
i like to game. and Vista uses to much system Memory to run...and some older games run "weird" on it.
but i've never used Mac operating systems. i have used iTunes though.

Alot of my friends say some of the bigger gaming titles aren't supported by Mac or don't work on them as well,is this true?

I'm a simple computer guy and am happy with my Windows XP PC but will upgrade eventually to Vista. My best friend is a computer nerd and makes $70k+ a year just making sure PCs hold together for the government so I almost never have any issues with mine with him around which is a nice benefit.

Most games are made for windows, im part of a tech club at the locally college. basic its an excuse to use the college for LAN parties. but no one uses Mac OS to game with, mainly XP a few with Vista.....(and yes im a nerd....not really i just like games)

Does anyone happen to know how to fix this error code in Vista? It is really starting to piss me off, as I cannot delete everything, because once I try to move something to the recycle bin, I get this error saying:

"error 0x80070570. File is corrupted and cannot be modified."

Looks like a format and fresh install for you! I am a computer tech, so I see stuff like this all the time. Try updating windows, and make sure you have all of the latest "performance and security" patches. SP1 is coming, so help is coming. Things are gonna suck until then. Personally I love my Mac. I fell in love 4 years ago. Currently own a 1.83GHZ Core Duo Macbook Pro. I HATE Micro$oft, but do to my work, I have a certain relationship I must have with Windows-PC's. Microsoft is rumored to already be working on "7" their next OS. Due out in 2Q of 2009! Thats soon compared to 5 year XP to Vista launch. I guess it sucks that much. Anyways I am constantly downgrading people back to good ole XP.

speaking of computers and gaming. anyone played the New Call Of Duty 4: modern warfare???

Agreed, beats out Halo 3 (multiplayer wise) in my opinion, and i hope it outsells that hyped up scifi shooter. It's a much better game and its sad to see some people ignore it. in my opinion

:awais:

I'm gonna go against the computer tech guy and recommend this before you do a complete wipe. I've seen this (unable to move files to recycle bin) before and this is how you fix it.

1. open the Disk Check
a. open computer
b. right click partition the error is at. for me if it is a file on the desktop it would be the C: drive.
c. choose properties
d. choose error checking utility, then "check now"

2. check both boxes
a. just to be safe check both boxes after clicking Check Now.
b. DO NOT try and open programs when it is checking, just step away and do nothing.
c. restart computer

3. enjoy deleting that file.

hopefully that works for you, if u need any further help i'll try my best. All i know that the error code ending in 70 is not one you should be reformatting for. It's fixable.

also Vista isn't that bad of an OS, sure it's not as stable as XP but it's not as bad as alot of people make it out to be.

All I can say is wow, what a game! I have it for PS3 and the graphics are simply amazing.

Talk about gaming, I just bought Burnout Paradise for PS3 and that is also an amazing game!

The PS3 is hooked up to a Panasonic plasma. It offers a great video gaming experience! :D

Windows, preferably XP

I have Vista premium on my lil laptop that I use for school and Windows Explorer decided to quit working yesterday....yay. I've never had an issue with XP however.

Alienware A-51 7500-xp
Alienware A-51 M5500-xp
Dell 1330-vista
DIY - XP

I don't mind macs and have thought about getting one, the system at school is geared more towards windows based systems though.

I'd vote for mac. Had G4 for quite a while and I like it.
That's my home lap.
But I prefer FreeBSD over all. Run it on my servers and few workstations.
But I have a windows XP lap in my truck, for mapsource.

I just switched from Windows Vista laptop to a MacBook Pro. All I can say is wow. I was a little worried I'd have trouble getting used to OS X but the computer practically sets itself up. I'm enjoying it more every day!

I go with Vista and XP. got 4 laptops one Toshiba with Windows XP two brand new Junkies HP's with Vista and one Dell also with Vista(Dell the best PC in my opinion) I got rid of one of my HP's and the other one is still with me because I dropped it still works ok but it has some scratches and dents...otherwise I would have sold it too...they are piece of crap...My Dell is older and works wayyyyy better than the other three together. The toshiba is fair enough.

If you have a specific need for a Mac then spend the extra cash but I looked at a "cheap" Mac for a tad over $1000 and it had a 13" screen,2gb of ram and a 160gb hard drive which seems rediculous when I can get an HP with 4gb of ram,16" screen and 320gb hard drive for a little over $500 and if I move up to a $700 model it adds a 500gb hard drive and a Bluray player and a comparable Nividia graphics card that's in the Mac.

I simply can't swallow the premium you pay with the Mac and getting quite a bit less for my hard earned cash.
