I just bought another 4runner its an 87 with power windows but they dont work. You can tap the button and eventually it will let down I was wondering if the switch might be bad?

yeah it sounds like that would be the problem
The switch does not need replaced. What you need to do is take the switch out of the door panel and disassemble it. once you take the switch apart, you'll see a couple of small pieces of metal for the contacts. After time, these contacts build up carbon deposits. These carbon deposits will prevent your window switch from making an electrical connection. Take a wire brush, and clean them off. Put the switch back together and bing bang boom good as new. You will def want some small trim tools to take the switch apart. Be careful, they are easy to crack the plastic when taking them apart.
