Windshield Color?

I have a 2002 silver SR5 4runner with the standard factory tint to the windows. Got a big old crack in the lower windshield, I think from getting pissed off and throwing my cell phone up ontop of the dash. However, if you ever see my wife the story is "I don't know how the heck it happened". Can the cell story just be our secret?

While calling around for a replacement I was repeatedly asked what color my windshield is. Honestly, I can not tell.

The options are Bronze, Blue, and Green. I don't think there is any blue in it, which means bronze or green.

I have always maintained I am not color blind, just color stupid. Anyone have an idea what the color is considered?

Also, I have safelite doing the job. Quoted 247.90. When I said another shop would do the job for 214 they dropped the price to 206.90 immediately. I signed up right away, thinking it was not going to get much better than that.

I'd ask them for clarification or ask if you can see a sample photo online or come by and see in person. Do they possibly mean the tint strip/sun block that runs across the top of the windshield.

No, they mean the actual tint of the windows. I did not know there was more than one color. I do not have any sort of strip or shading across the top of the window. It is all the same color. I called one company and after saying, Toyota, 2002, 4 Runner they said "blue or bronze". The next company said "blue, bronze or green?".

I figured that meant their computer defaulted to those options. Maybe someone will have had some experience, otherwise I am going to do some research. I don't want two different color windows, the carpet and drapes have to match!

pretty sure its green. when your car has been sitting in the rain for a bit the windshield tends to have somewhat of a green tint to it

I think you are right.. that the Toyota glass doesn't have a tint. I believe the newer Toyotas have a photochromatic treatment (like Transitions lenses for eye glasses) that darkens at the top in bright light. They also have a water repellent coating. What you will be getting is aftermarket glass without either of these, and apparently has a slight tint. I'd say pick what you think would look good or wait until you can see a sample or find someone that can post a pic. Hopefully someone with a bit more information than me will reply.

It is bronze. I had my window broken out in my 4Runner about 2 months ago and had to get it replaced. It took a little longer because they ordered a green tint window and realized it was wrong when they went to swap it out.

If in doubt, just roll your window down and look at the top of the window, as if to look down through the glass. Green or blue will be obvious, the bronze one just looks more clear with really no tint.
