USAA in coverage in Colorado doesn't have that option, because this state goes through windshields like crazy, they are making us pay for a new windshield ourselves. I know there are a couple more insurance agency's here that does the same thing.

Sometimes the only thing you can do is lower your comprehensive deductible. Mine is at $250 for now.

We have gone through a couple windshields here over the years. In my Nissan one due to a rock and one due to a bird strike! On our Tundra I cracked the windshield near the bottom while changing wiper blades. The arm slipped out of my hand while installing the new blade and slapped the glass cracking it. I haven't replaced it yet and the crack has been stable for several years now. So now I put a folded towel where the wiper would rest to prevent a repeat!
No issues on our SR5 other than a small rock chip.

My insurance (Mercury) won't pay for windshields.
The windshield on my 4Runner lasted 11 months before getting chipped and cracked. That's better than on the three Troopers I owned previously. None of them lasted longer than six months.

Should be some warranty on labor - check your paperwork. If none then call and ask. You could also test for leaks with a garden hose. Go around the outside edges with some high pressure spray and then check on the inside with a paper towel. The sooner you detect a problem the better for getting it fixed free.
salt & sand or rocks
Up here in the Northeastern part of Vermont, you never follow a vehicle to close in passing lane because they use rocky sand with salt. I have had many broken windshields in the past. Now I know better. And talk about temperature swings, We go from 20 bellow 0 F to 32 F in less than 12 hours time!

So are they not allowing the claim at all?
I'm mentioning this just because... But when you have it replaced, try to make sure (and see if you can get it in writing) that the shop replacing the glass touches up any scratches they make while removing the windshield and ensure they seal it properly. I've seen too many cheap replacements here that are rusting on the roof due to this. See the attached pic of my fiances car. Just food for thought

This. Even though I live in Virginia, not one of the states listed here, I have full glass which means no deductible. Other states may offer that... Got to have at least comprehensive coverage, to get it. Only stipulation is, they have to try and repair it first, if its a candidate for repair. Otherwise you get a new one, no charge. They will replace it with all OEM features. (I even had a LR windshield with the built-in defroster replaced and that was around $2,000... maybe more, can't remember...)

A similar thread in the recent past motivated me to contact my insurance company to inquire about my glass coverage.
Since they didn't offer it here in NC it was recommended to me, as a workaround, to just lower my deductible on comprehensive to $0 which is what I ended up doing.
Seemed the prudent thing to do in light of all these reports of issues with the windshield.

not the times that I have tried
the latest one that happened was during the windstorm that happened recently, luckily the insurance is taking care of that one this time
I usually stay about 4 cars behind the vehicle in front of me, but I still hear rocks and pebbles banging my windshield

Thats odd. Im pretty sure they have to cover it if you have comp unless there's some obscure line in your policy stating otherwise. Usually the worst news you'll get is that your policy doesn't mandate oem glass or your deductible is higher than the replacement cost.

Lived in Colorado Springs for 2 years and was lucky enough to make it thru without getting a crack in my windshield. Drove my Firebird across the country when we moved back to the east coast and 1st day after visiting family, driving thru Charlotte, and a small stone falls from an overpass and hits my windshield, blam...crack. Luckily insurance paid for it.
