Windshield Leak

My windshield leaks when it rains. I probably need to bring it to an auto-glass place & have it resealed but I figured I'd run this by you folks first. Anyone have an el-cheepo, down-n-dirty fix for a leaking windshield?

It drips from just above my rear-view mirror.

This can't be good for my center console.

The trim on the outside seems to be intact.

Any ideas?

where do you live ? I wonder if it's rusted out under the trim<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

It's quite possible. I had similar leaks on my Maxima and Trooper, both had rust under the gasket. :(

wow .. thats quite a bit !!

pull the windshield FOR SURE .. and have a look .. about all you can do for now !

and the longer you leave it , the more possable damage could occure , including rusting floor boards ..

That sucks. Definitely pull the chrome lining off and see if it is exposed. That's nothing compared to the leaks I had in my 87 t4r in high school. If I turned too sharp I would get a shower and I always kept a few towels in my t4r to sit on and hold the water back. It pretty funny.

Exact same leak scenario!

Hi Nodd,
I have a 95 4Runner and yesterday I was surprised to find lots of water on my center console :cry2: (same area as your photo) and after further inspection noticed that the headliner behind the rear view mirror is soaked pretty much the full width of the windshield. I was going to pull down the headliner today and see where the leak was, but thought I'd also check to see what you did to repair your leak first? Any insight would be of great assistance.

Thanks

Shaun

Get a new windshield, they're having a 1200 dollar special on them, installed!!

(long running joke here)

Anyway, try a bead of silicone or superglue..

Been getting LOTS of rain here on West Coast!

Ha Ha Ya not sure I'll be keeping it much longer, so hoping not to spend much on it. It's been the BEST vehicle I've EVER owned (since Jan 98) and first real problem with it. I pulled the headliner down to have a better look and also noticed the rusting around the exterior windshield trim, so will need rust repair to do a proper job on it. Guess I'll try silicone for now. Thanks.
