Windshield Replacement Cost

Got into the runner to go to work this morning and noticed a large L shaped crack in the top of my windshield. Further inspection resulted in me finding a chip right behind my rearview mirror from a rock or something that I never knew even happened.

Whats the typical cost to replace a 2004 Windshield? I have a $500 deductible so I doubt it'll cost that much

called around and found a place near me that'll come while I'm at work for $160 out the door and they're the highest rated one around in Virginia Beach so monday well be back to normal:high5:

Recently got mine replaced.

I learned windshield glass is covered by most insurance companies if you have a decent policy... it's a saftey items and structural to the car. Check with them before shelling out of pocket.

I HAD OEM coverage as well... zero out of pocket but the invoice was in the $700-800 amount with OEM parts and labor.

Got a bit lucky because cars this old are not supposed to have an OEM floater... its more for newer cars and expensive cars where you would most likely need OEM parts in the event of an accident.

After the claim they removed the OEM floater, but I got a brand new OEM windshield and it looks amazing haha. After that I got the dash replaced under warranty because it was cracking... literally feels like a brand new truck again.

A big rig sent a rock hurtling into my windshield last year, leaving a half-dollar sized chip. The Toyota dealer in Dublin, CA wanted $1500 to replace it. They and I had a good laugh over that crap. So they referred me to a couple 3rd party places. I ended up having Safelite do it for I believe $220 out the door.

One week later I got another rock. :mad2: I didn't bother replacing it again.

Quite true, most do cover it, but most people can replace it on their own for much less than the cost of their deductible. If you're lucky enough to have a deductible under $200 it's worth it.

I actually keep a pretty high deductible, 1-2k depending on which one of my cars we are talking about... but the windshield wasn't subject to that deductible.

They fix it for free, or replace it for $100.

Wow. That's pretty cool. I wish USAA offered that for me.

I know things can vary from state to state, but my policy is currently with Farmers... I really like my experience with them so far.

Most of these things were explained to me by my agent... it's nice having one point of contact vs AAA where I was constantly passed around from representative to representative.
