Everyone is well aware of the criminal side of tinting your windshield but don't forget the civil ramifications that can come of this. Get into any type of accident and I can guarantee your insurance company is going to cancel your policy. If its a serious accident were your injure or kill someone you can only imagine the civil judgement against you.
But hey we are all invincible right.
You shouldn't be guaranteeing the fact that any companies would cancel your insurance policy. Are you well aware of my standing with my insurance company? How about Broncosi's insurance company? I mean, since you know complete history between the insured driver and the insurance company that's insuring them and all that. Oh by the way, it's called a 'premium' where they jack the rates on you if the accident was caused by you. It's not always the case where they will automatically drop you only if you cause injury to yourself or somebody else. For example, insurance companies increases your rates after you getting a DUI. Why should they drop you after one DUI? What if you got a DUI after hitting a parked car or a pedestrian? Does that mean you're automatically dropped because of that? Get real dude. It all depends on your driving history too you know... If there are civil lawsuits against you because you were the reason for the accident then bummer! You're just going to have to man up and and fight it out in court. Insurance reserves the right to drop anyone from an insurance policy and trust me, it takes A LOT for one to be dropped.
Example: My friend's family has been with State Farm for 35 years, and 3 months ago they dropped the ENTIRE FAMILY from their policy with State Farm because my friend got a DUI (rates were increased at this time) not even a year ago, and he drove on a restricted license 4 months ago (when he was not supposed to because he wasn't going to work/class/or a medical appointment) where he was eventually pulled over and charged with violating his restricted license privileges. My friend told me State Farm would have dropped him alone if he hadn't lived inside the same house with his family. So it takes a DUI, then driving on a restricted license for State Farm to drop you. Oh yeah, excessive speeding tickets in a certain amount of time would definitely be one of the contributing factors to your policy being dropped.
Another example:
I have a very mild driving history where I have had like two speeding tickets in the past two years, and my rates were increased drastically after I drove into a brick-layered mailbox / city light pole. Guess what kind of tint I had at the time? Limo tint. I guess I got "lucky" my insurance company didn't drop me because I had limo tint. Instead, they increased my rates for 6 months.
But hey, we're all so well knowledgeable when it comes to insurance right??
Edit: obviously if you kill someone while operating a vehicle then there's a GREAT chance of you getting dropped from your insurance (I don't even know about this kind of stuff only because I've never killed anyone on the road nor know anybody else that committed vehicular manslaughter.
