Windshield tinting

Does anyone know of a tint that isn't very dark (so you can drive at night) but blocks out the heat/uva for the windshield???


anyone ever do something like this?

Different tint companies make a very light tint, but because of state laws it might be hard to find one that would tinit the full windshield. I think it is a good idea for the lightest tint for UV protection.

When I was in college a frind of mine had a black RX7 with limo tint on all side and back windows and 35% on the entire windshield. It looked killer during the day, but he could hardly drive it at night. about a month after he had it done they changed the tint laws and he was probably the first to be pulled over. The cop made him start stripping the tint off on the side of the road, which made it even worse because of the resedue.

there's a guy over at HIDplanet.com that complained that even after adding HIDs his light output was horrible. well, the guy had a 35% tint on his windshield. :arrow:

Check out your state laws. It is illegal to put any tint on your windshiled, and if you are caught with it, especially in VA, your car can and will be towed as it will not be in compliance with state DMV regulations, and therefore "drivable". If I pulled you over, you better believe you would not be driving your truck/car until it was removed. It is too dangerous to do so.

I have a permit to do it....but i don't want it to darken my window, i just want to stop the heat and uva rays from comming in....

The factory tint on the windshield should be UV resistant. Most are these days. As has been said numerous times, tinting the windshield makes it a bear to see out of at night. It is also illegal in the majority of states (possibly all of them dealing with the windshield). You would get about the same heat reduction by tinting the front door windows to match the rest of the truck. When parked, use a sun shield.

How did you get a permit for that? I have never heard of such a thing.

I have 71% on my M3 windshield and you can't really tell from looking at it. At night, I think it's safer since the tint helps prevent glare from on-coming headlights. I've seen 50% that was ok but any more than that would suck at night.

You can get one from your eye doctor. Some eyes are very sensitive to bright lights.
