Windshield Trim Issue

I have been having an issue recently where my trim at the top driver's side of my windshield has been popping out of place and starts flapping around and hitting the window. This has never happened before now in the year that I have owned it. I have to roll down my window and stick my hand out the window and put it back in place. I don't know what to do, and its too small of an issue for me to take it to the dealership.

What year truck?

It's common for new windshields to get put in after 5-10 years on some cars, mostly due to stone chips, but sometimes do to bigger cracks.

If they put in a new windshield and used aftermarket/bad trim or glue, that could happen. Not sure there's any way to fix it unless you read up on what glue/substance they use on install, and try to reapply it.

If the windshield is otherwise in poor shape, and you get comprehensive insurance, you could always just ask insurance to buy you a new windshield. They do it on occasion for safety reasons.

if there are cracks on the windshield, maybe.
However windshield trim does not affect windshield integrity.
In fact it traps dirt and moisture, and worse, saltwater if you put water sports equipment up there, and promote rust.


That's one thing that Jeep does better than Toyota. No frickin' windshield trim., so easy to clean and rinse.

Do you mean the rubber strip that fills in the channel that leads up to the roof rack from the top outside corner of the windshield? If so I had the same issue. The end is secured with a sticky pad. It's pretty much a one time use thing. I had the same issue and was able to get it to stick back down. I'm looking for some of that thin double sided tape to do a better job.

Thats exactly what my issue is! Thank you! I will try and use a 3m double sided sticky pad and see if that works

Right. Never said it impacts integrity. But if you need new weatherstripping and your windshield is sandblasted you can kill 2 birds with one stone and get it right the first time.

But if it's just the channels to the rack, that's diff.

I don't believe you. If it is true - don't put any glue or tape there, just replace whole molding.
