Windshield

I have a 1995 4R and the windshield is cracked. For those of you who have replaced your windshield...

1) Any suggestions on who to use? I've called both Safelite and Diamond/Triumph. The quotes were roughly the same. My Toyota dealership was quite expensive and they call in one of these companies to install it anyway.

2) Apparently, there are several windshield options. How do I know what color glass I have? I know I have a blue shadeband at the top of the windshield but beyond that I can't tell if it's bronze, green or blue tinted glass. Any ideas on how to tell?

3) Is there any advantage to using OEM glass?

Thank you!

I've used safelite and talked to a few folks at work who also used them and we were all satisfied. Seeing that you have a 12yr old vehicle, I doubt anyone would have access to OEM glass for your truck. Everything will be aftermarket.

My windshield was cracked last week. I was debating on getting OEM or going with safelite, and I took safelite because it was cheaper.

The glass looks perfectly fine, installation looks good, I have no complains so far. The only problem was the scheduling was messed up and the guy called me in the morning and said that he has to come an hour early or he has to reschedule.

Guy was a friendly guy who seemed like he did a good job.

I would recommend Safelite especially for a car from 95.

Thank you for the replies. Sounds like Safelite is a good bet. And you're right, it doesn't make much sense to pay extra for OEM (if available) when the truck is a 95.
